We are four adults who have reserved a 2 bedroom unit for July 4th week at Marriott Mountainside in Park City, Utah.

I usually like a room that has a good view and is quiet. I've been reading the reviews for Mountainside and I can't get a good handle on what I should be requesting.

Can anyone give me suggestions.

Thank you.

During the summer, there is a definite trade-off between good view and quiet. The pool side have the best view but can be very noisy during the summer. The 'mud view' looks out the back into the side of a mountain, but is definitely more quiet. I would suggest the mud view on a high floor.

Owners will likely receive the preferred pool side views on higher floors, so typically only lower level pool side views are available to non-owners and these will be the noisiest.

I have never had a town view villa, but have read complaints that they can also be noisy.

The Park City area is very nice during the summer. There are several parks, hiking trails, and scenic mountains within an hour drive. I recommend staying away from the resort pool area on weekends because that is when it is most crowded. In the past, I have noticed that many locals from Salt Lake City area bring their family and friends to the resort on weekends. I highly recommend a drive to Mirror Lake. There are several scenic overlooks and hiking trails along the drive. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks for the information

Besides Mirror Lake, I was looking at Timpaganos Caves and Antelope State Park.
What do you think?

Are there any other places or drives you can recommend.

I haven't yet visited either of those areas, but will likely check them out in the future. Sundance is another nice area to visit during the summer. If I recall correctly, it is about 1 1/2 hr drive, while Mirror Lake is less than an hour.

Superchief: Would you be able to recommend any restaurants/bars that stand out.

Since we had our adult daughter and a friend on this trip, we didn't eat out very often. I can provide a few recommendations for groceries and carryout:
-There is a Smith's grocery (part of Kroger) on your left after you get off the Interstate in the large shopping center. They had much better selection and prices than grocery stores in Park City. There is also a Walmart across the street.
-We had a carry-out from a good Italian restaurant in the same complex. It appears to be a nice place to eat, had an outdoor patio and good food and wine specials. I'll have to check my Amex bill for the name.
-Nick's Cafe has good Greek food for carryout. My wife is Greek and my daughter a vegetarian, so we ate there twice and enjoyed both meals.
-We ate at a Mexican restaurant in the complex next to Mountainside on a previous visit and the food was pretty good. Locals told me there are better options in the town, but it was convenient.
-There are several excellent restaurants in town that we have visited on previous trips, but it has been a few years so I would check with the concierge and other posters. Since Park City is a ski resort, there are several restaurant options. Some are overpriced but many offer attractive discounts during the summer season.

Thank you both.

I have 2 questions about Mountainside and one about Park City:

1. Are there enough grills available that we can plan on grilling? Do we have to reserve or is it anyone can use if available?

2. Does Mountainside have coffeemakers in the room? If so, does it take pods ?

As to Park City:

1. Does anyone have any experiences about the Olympic Park to share? Not sure if it's worth visiting without children.

About four first come grills with several tables and counter space. Nice set-up. I did not have a problem and grilled several times. I was there over and after Labor Day when clouds were tapering off.

Coffee makers were typical drip machines.

We visited Olympic Park and had a great time. There is a small museum but the fun part is that they have several of the event courses designed to train year round. I liked watching the ski jumpers fly off into the water and saw a run down the bob sled course.

Thank you both.

Although Mountainside has several gas grills, this is one of the few MVC resorts where I have had difficulty finding an open grill during dinner hours in the summer. I have found many large groups tie up the grills and tables several nights. I usually can find one grill that individuals are using for shorter periods of time and are willing to share, but I have seen groups use 2-3 grills for the full evening. It is really luck of the draw and depends on the conscientiousness of the people during the week you are there.

I was there Labor Day week last year, so most large families thinned out after the weekend and I didn't have any problems. A couple staff members were extremely helpful and offered to help me access a grill if necessary. They did a good job of keeping grills and utensils clean.

When the tables are all full, there is a small deck in the back that is usually open in the evenings and is a peaceful oasis. It is used for kids activities during the day, but was usually empty in the evenings we were there. It is behind the movie theater.
