Hi, I am looking to buy a resale timeshare to use primarily for an annual ski trip. I originally was looking to purchase one of the Marriott properties in Park City, then came across some great looking deals in Breckenridge at Marriott MVL (1 bedroom ski season) and Grand Timber Lodge (2 bedroom LO ski season). Given I would want some variety and not ski Breckenridge every year and trade into resorts in Park City, Lake Tahoe, Vail etc. I was wondering between the two which would be the best for trading?

At first glance I assumed the Marriott would be the better option, especially since a lot of the places I'd like to trade into are other Marriott properties, however MVL only has 1 bedroom units and I was not sure what kind of trading power that would have compared to the 2 bedroom LO at Grand Timber Lodge. Welcome any advice from anyone who has experience with either of these.

Thanks!

I don’t know about trade power, but MVL has really high MF’s for what it is IMHO. BGV (management for grand timber) does a better job with the MF’s.

We own at Grand Colorado, part of BGV, if that gives you an indication of my opinion

If you are hoping to trade into the Marriotts at Park City and Lake Tahoe during ski season I think your best bet would be Marriott Mountain Valley Lodge. Marriott Preference would be critical in having a shot at trading for prime platinum season ski weeks.

They'd be better off just puchasing Marriott in those locations. Maintenance Fees are more reasonable than MVL in Breck and those locations have 2BRs they can lock off.

I am not currently looking to buy any additional weeks, so have not explored this thoroughly. But always thought that a 3 BR at Timber Lodge in South Lake tahoe might be a good week to own for skiing/trading. I don't have any indication on how it would trade but assume it do well with other Marriotts. I believe that is the only Mariott ski location that has 3br units. As a side note I heard Heavenly might get 8 ft of snow this week.

I also own at Grand Lodge at Peak 7 in Breckenridge, which is a BGV resort and absolutely love it there.

Grand Timber Lodge is a much better resort than the Marriott in Breckenridge. However, it won't trade as well into a Marriott in Park City since it doesn't have the Marriott preference period.
