Marriott let a guest make a prepaid hotel booking. They even let the guests check in online, but turns out the hotel was not open. To make matters worse, Marriott won't help with any refund.

I never make prepaid hotel reservations, though I did not anticipate this problem.
Just to be clear, this is the Hotel company, not Marriott Vacations.
