Does anyone have the recent budget (2008 or 2009) for the Marriott Ko Olina. I am researching the costs of beach time shares and want to understand the costs. You can highlight paste, or zip the file if you would like. An exel spreadsheet or a csv file (not as bulky) is good as well.

I will share my research as I get it.

Thanks,

J

My friend owns a 2BR/2BA Platinum Ocean View at Ko Olina and his last annual maintenance bill was $1400 for the week.

I'm guessing a unit like that in this market would go for around $20k or so, so figure the true cost at about $350/per night over the week at that price (figure lost interest on the money you used to buy the timeshare that you could put in a CD earning 5% ($1000 for the week) plus $200/day for maintenance cost).

Of course, he unfortunately bought direct from Marriott a few years ago and paid close to $50,000 for that unit. So, I figure his true cost for the week to be $3,900 (lost interest on the money + maint fee) or $557/night.

Doesn't make much sense to me, given the deals you can find renting from the owners of these things - for less than the maintenance fee alone, in some cases.

Yes, I would love the 2009-10 budget. can you scan and post it? Or, if you would like, you can fax it to 321-577-0233. Or, you can copy and paste the internet address where the new budget is posted.

Thanks,

J

Here is the 2009 Budget. Overall budget was $28 Million. Net operating fee increase in 2008 was 6.9% versus 8.1% in 2007. My specific 2009 Maintenance fees for EOY were:

2009 Maintenance Fees $617.00
2009 Replacement reserve 71.83
2009 Property Tax Fee 63.01
Total $751.84

Any value in the the $10 ARDA-ROC PAC Contribution?
