Marriott gift card sale (targeted offer)

re: Points posting to Bonvoy. It was a Bonvoy issue - not a credit card issue. Said I spend $400 on meals when I spend much more than that. However, the Westin has not been able to provide me with the receipt and I accidently threw it away when I returned home. win a few lose a few.
Got it. We had that issue many years ago at Lagunamar. They didn't post nearly as many points as we expected based on the folio spend and currency conversion rate.

Hmmm. Perhaps this is a systemic issue. I will keep my receipt next time. Marriott would not accept my credit card statement as proof.

I just bought the $1000 ecard for $800 for a trip in May. System worked fine. Hopefully I will be able to redeem it lol.

Checked out of WKORVN this morning.
Charge to gift card $550 balance 450. Most of that was Hawaii tax of $30+ per day.
I have a print out of the transaction with the charge and the balance on card and my folio says I paid with a Marriott gift card.

So far so good.
On to Marriott KBC.

Has anyone gone all the way thru checkout and then when I enter our marriott Bonvoy credit card info it says payment failed? Called Chase and they said they approved the purchase and then gift card issuer cancelled purchase. Called help number on gift card order site and they could only find possibly some internal security system they have. No real answer.

I didn't have that problem and have done two different transactions as both my wife and I received the offer. Do you have any kind of adblocker turned on? If so, try disabling that and see if it works.

We don't have any ad blocker on. Tried it with our Chase Sapphire and said payment failed so I have no idea why it doesn't work.

Interesting. I was using the Chase Bonvoy card. I wonder if the offer is requiring use of a Bonvoy card? It doesn't state that in the terms and conditions.

I used Marriott Visa for one and Chase Sapphire Reserve for second

Frustrating that neither our Marriott Bonvoy Visa or Chase Sapphire Preferred work. Found online someone having same issue but no resolution. One did say they had problem until used their American Express, then worked for them.

Can you call to purchase?

Thank you but unfortunately I tried that too. Just strange that all they say is its some internal security system and it neither denies or approves, just doesn't work sometimes.

Try a different browser- that might help. Also, does your street have 2 different spellings (I know that might sound strange, but ours is spelled with 2 L's in some places and one L in others, and can be maddening on sites that are particular).

Thanks for the suggestions and we have tried those too with no success. We are just giving up on it since even after calling back all they will say is some address verification system they have is not finding things to match. All we can think of is the credit card is issued with his middle initial and his bonvoy account does not show a middle initial.

I don't think the gift card ordering site does any kind of check back to Bonvoy. Perhaps there is some kind of tracker in the link you click on the email, but still not sure that is the case.

My DH had 20% off so I bought $1000 using Chase Sapphire. I experienced no problems using incognito mode and accepting cookies.

Perhaps the site was overwhelmed earlier in the day?

Do these gift cards expire or lose value over time? If so how?

I like receiving $200 back on a $1000. The $200 will just about cover Maui taxes at WKORV on an upcoming stay. :-(

...but better than having to pay cash to cover it. I don't think we will use internationally because the exchange rate they will apply will likely be bad. We buy food at US resorts so can keep and apply to these stays.

They don't expire or lose value. You were lucky to get a 20%- most got 15%, which was still a nice savings!

Offer supposedly ended yesterday.

Yeah the extra $100 we would have saved with a 20% off offer on two sets of cards would have been nice. Though the reality is that even what we did save overall isn't that big of a dent in what our Hawaii trip is going to be costing us.

Haha. SO true. A few people were nice and shared their 15% off codes. We’re taking our daughter and grandsons to Waikiki for 3 days before heading to Maui for a timeshare week. Figured what I saved by buying gift cards will pay for an excursion/activity. With 5 of us it’s going to be an expensive trip, so I get what you mean. But the memories will be worth it!

Not possible. The gift card is for Marriott Hotels, not Marriott Vacation Club, which is a completely different company. You may be able to use the gift card to pay for taxes and incidental expenses when checking out of a MVC property though.

It's worth noting that this is seemingly not an offer from Marriott, it is an offer from what seems to be a third party gift card seller. The last time I got an offer like this (early in the pandemic) it was redeemed at gifts.marriott.com which is directly from Marriott. That purchase earned 6x Bonvoy points for using my Bonvoy Amex card, while this one wouldn't. It's still a good deal.
I can confirm that the spend qualified for the 6X multiplier on the Chase Bonvoy credit card.
