Pretty much yes, although looking at Escapes might point you to resorts that have a lot of excess inventory.

In my experience if you are patient, persistent and flexible, there is churn at many resorts that you can take advantage of. We haven’t paid full price for a winter reservation in Tahoe for a very long time. Surprisingly to me, summer is tougher.

I know this is an old post, I am new to TUG. Curious how you "search" the properties for availability. Do you just have to go into the MVC site and enter sets of 15 and look through them? Or is there an easier way?

If you are talking about the 25% discount at 30 days for Executiive members, then the search works like any other points searches you would do. The same is true for the 30% discount at 60 days for Presidential and Chairman's. Now there are Destination Escapes. For those, you can look at the available resorts online but you have to call to check availability and make the reservation.
