Marriott Cypress Harbour - question

hi all

about to (possibly) book the marriott cypress harbour for a last minute trip to Disney.

I understand there is no restaurant at the Cypress Harbour -- but what is there to eat? I have read all the reviews, etc and am now thoroughly confused about any dining options.

Debating between this resort and the Horizon. I see loads of great reviews for Cypress, ok reviews for Horizon, but the exact opposite on Trip advisor :) I have a newborn and a 4 year old, so looking for fun + relaxation.

I will take any comments or thoughts!

Thanks!

At Cypress Harbour there's a Pizza Hut and a very well stocked Market Place. There are also many places to eat or shop for groceries within close driving distance. Of cousre this is true for Horizon too, since it's across the street from Cypress Harbour.

With a newborn and 4 year old, I don't think you could go wrong with either, although I haven't been to Horizon.

Here's the thread from a similar question I asked in August for our week in early November.

http://tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78274

We ended up going with Horizons and it was perfect for our 2 1/2 year old. We even got involved in a few of the staff activities which we do not do. After our week last month, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Orlando until he is much older. Besides, our son would never forgive us. He loved his "Orlando House." ;)

Cypress Harbour is a better resort for kids 8-18. Horizons is better for kids 2-8. You'll get that out of most reviews.

Food at both will be the same, pretty much. Count on being able to get donuts, bagels, egg sandwiches at both for breakfast and pizza, chicken tenders, etc. for lunch.

If you want one with a restaurant, go with Grande Vista. It's also a very nice place and has a wonderful kids club. Nick's Grill is full service open for three meals. They also have a marketplace and snack bar plus another bar/gill area at the new pool complex.

I've heard Horizon's Pirate ship pool is going to be closed during January for refurbishment. Of course, there is the other platform slide pool and water play area. If you are seriously considering Horizons, I would probably call them to find out the refurbishment dates.

We like both, Horizons, and Cypress Harbour. When it's just adults on the trip, we usually go with Cypress Harbour. Cypress Harbour has pizza hut express and a pretty good grill for hamburgers, fish and chips, and snack type foods.

Aren't the pools a bit cold in January? We always find spring break iffy for pool weather so I can imagine January being worse. I guess my point is to not make a decision based on the resort pools.

Thanks to ALL! As long as the pools are heated, we have been ok in the past in January. I love the weather in disney in January, and I REALLY love the crowds (none)!

I am calling Horizons right now to check on the pool in January.

Happy Holidays

Horizon's Pirate Pool WILL Be closed for January

Thank you all for the advice -- I just called. The hotel confirmed that the Pirate Pool will be closed for the entire month of January. The other pool (with a 16 foot slide, 42 inch height requirement) will be open and the Pirates MIGHT be there to interact with them.

Anyway, based on this, I think we will do Cypress Harbour (or the Grande Vista...my consternation continues) and call it a day. My 4 year old won't know she's missing anything, and we will do the other next year!

Thanks to all.

Amy
