Marina Dunes in May?

Is MD going to be zonked in with Marine Fog every morning, for hours, in May? Trying to decide if a different time of year would be better?

I was recently at Marina Dunes for 5 days.
Did not see the sun -- at all -- for 4 days.
(Wasn't sure whether it was smoke from a nearby fire or the marine layer.)
On the morning of 5th day, woke up to blue sky, and time to check-out.
After that experience, I won't make any weather predictions for Marina Dunes.

OR, it could be sunny. It's August and we've had heavy marine layer the last few days. Usually May is not that effected, but you really do not know--can vary day to day. I actually like having the marine layer keep the weather cooler.

September-October brings the "least chances" of fog to the central CA coast, but morning fog is still a frequent occurrence.

They call it “May gray” for a reason. But MD is so hard to get, take it if you can get it! We once went in January!

That is why I was wondering if May would be worth it.

I was there once in July. There was lots of Marine fog which we weren't expecting. We used the cameras online to check on Monterey and other places and often found that they were sunny so off we went. We have also recently used this tactic of finding cams from different places to decide where we should stay to avoid the smoke. It worked this summer, we spent a night in Hope BC with limited to no smoke but Merritt BC was filled with smoke. Merritt was the half way point from Vancouver to Kelowna but Hope was a better choice. Obviously this only works once you are there or in close proximity.

We were there for a week March '25 on a lucky RCI extra vacation. Chilly but every day was sunny but one. Loved this resort and all there was to do nearby. My favorite part was walking to the Pacific from our unit at sunset and sitting in one of the Adirondack chairs around the blazing kettle fire!

I am going to put a request for a different time of year. I wanted to enjoy it, but I also want to do an extended CA National Parks trip in the off season, so I will put in back on the table another time.
