MarBrisa OU

When we were there last May they had planes taking off all day long it seemed like. Easy to ignore if you wanted to though as they were all smallish private planes.

That's a constant every time we have stayed at MB or GPP. Not much late at night.

The nearby airport has ATC services from 7AM to 10PM… not sure if there is a curfew in effect outside this time period, but it would explain the reduced traffic at night.

Tower closes. If VFR still operational. Much less traffic at night either way.

We prefer buildings 60-61 for the distant ocean and sunset views over Legoland. Not really impressed with a view of the pool but we do like to make good use of it.

It's been a few years since we visited so I wasn't aware the newer buildings are more upscale.

Looks like 1 BR at Bldg 67 is 1 BR Premier (more HGV pts); larger units also..

As compared to regular 1 BR standalone units...

Or 1 BR lock-off units...

Or 1 BR in Pointe (no elevators except Bldg 80)..

Some people don’t like having to cancel IFR going into a non-towered field, and we are all talking about small business jets as the traffic, who would probably be operating on an IFR plan.

Thank you for the gentile reminder that we are not in an aviation forum. If anyone would like me to explain anything in more detail, please let me know. I love chatting about airplanes. :)

Happy to learn more. Pls tell us more about all these (+ any other cool things to learn about stuff we never knew), esp any simple (in plain English) resources we may read up to learn more...

Also, as we are all travel focused, on our flight trackers (like Flighty or flightaware etc), they have some mumbo jumbp which likely says the route the flight takes. TLDR version of knowing what that means?

Any other travel tips from the flightaware or other flight info, for practical, last minute gate/flight delays/changes etc?

TY!

Not intending to hijack the thread………
There is too much information, I would need specific questions, haha.

That route string you see on FlightAware is made up of the departure airport, a departure procedure to join an airway, waypoints, airways, an arrival procedure, and destination airport. An analogy to driving a car would be you are leaving your house (departure airport), will drive some surface streets to the highway (departure procedure), highway/freeway/interstate (airways), change interstate at a particular point or enter/exit the freeway at a particular point (waypoint), then take a surface street to your destination (arrival procedure), arrive at the HGVC MarBrisa (destination airport). I’m leaving out a lot of minutiae.

Attached is a route from Denver to CRQ, the airport near MarBrisa:
KDEN 08.CONNR7.WERNR ZAKRY Q114 BLD TNP TRM ESCON KCRQ

KDEN is the departure airport
08.CONNR7.WERNR Is departing runway 08, CONNR7 is the departure procedure, WERNR is the transition fix (transitioning from the departure procedure to the enroute phase)
ZAKRY is the first waypoint we use on airway Q114
Q114 is the airway we are using
BLD is the last waypoint we use on airway Q114
TNP TRM are waypoints we will go direct between the waypoints with out any airway
ESCON Is the last waypoint before arrival, there is not an arrival procedure for this airport from the East, so we go direct from this waypoint to the airport.
(We would use the ILS 24 to land at the destination, but it does not go into the route string)
KCRQ is the destination airport.

(Attached the CONNR7 DP and the ILS 24 for KCRQ)

Gates are assigned by the airline, so will not be a part of the filed flight plan. If you know the inbound aircraft you will be on, you can use FlightAware to see if they are on time. If they are delayed your flight out may be delayed.
