Marbella ... what will it take?

We are planning for next year and were wondering what strength will it take to get a unit in Marbella for the last week of June and/ or the 1st week of July. Do you think a gold will pull it at that time of the year or do you think a platinum will be necessary?

We could possibly do with a one bedroom but were interested in what folks thought of the possibility of getting a 2 bedroom in case friends join us???

Thanks for any ideas/ thoughts on this one. :)

that's not a time when UK school holidays are so you probably should be ok getting an exchange; also if that's the week that 4th July fits into, then that's often the week that us savvy owners reserve for ourselves knowing it will give extra trade power in II due to it being special week for American owners, so again you might get lucky.

I've never traded into Marbella but did trade into Playa Gold very easily with a silver week, but then that was when resort was not anywhere complete. Bear in mind also that Playa Andaluza is just along the coast and probably just as lovely a resort, so you could ask to trade there to open up your trading opportunity

I think whether or not you use Plat. or Gold weeks is less of an issue that which weeks you use. Not all Gold weeks are the same. For ex., Aruba Gold trades almost as well as Plat. Aruba and trades better than many Plat. weeks. While other weeks you have may get the trade you are looking for, from what I have been told you will likely get it with your Aruba week; I would venture to guess the Barony Plat. would also secure the week. Gold weeks at HH don't trade as well so may or may not pull the Marbella week as easily.

If you'd prefer to use your Aruba week rather than trade it, perhaps a good strategy would be to place 2 on-going requests, one with the Aruba week and one with another week and see what comes up. I think if your Aruba week pulls a week you want you can call II and see if you can switch the exchange for another week (trading perhaps one of your other Glod weeks, for ex.) within the 24 hour period and, if successful, since the Aruba week was a request-first, you could then take it back.

Thank you for some good advice.

We good possibly add Playa to our request since our goal is to go to Spain for one to two weeks and then on to visit relatives in Northern England. I have no problem offering up my Aruba gold for a trade ... my hope was that I would not have to give up my HHI plat because we use it every year. We also have Ocean Point that we could also use. We will be determining soon whether friends w/be comming and whether I will need a 2 bedroom or if I can use a 1 bedroom.

Are both Playa and Marbella 1 and 2 bedroom resorts?

Beverley

There are 3 bed units in Marbella Beach and "lockoffs" in Playa. Would go for both.Early June should be fine with Gold.

MMB has 1,2, & 3 BR apartments. Playa has 2 & 3 BR apartments. Note that at both Playa & MMB, only the 3BR units lockoff.

Do take note that the Platinum season for both resorts straddles June and July. This year both weeks that you're pondering fall in the gold season, but such was not the case the previous year. Be sure to keep an eye on resort calanders year to year.

Great suggestion about two on-going requests m61376. Just when one thinks they have all of the angles figured out, someone points out a new idea. ;)

I don't think that Marbella's 3 bedroom lockoff. Just for info

Does anyone know what kitchen facilities, if any, are in the lockoff section of the PLaya resort. I noticed an efficiency which I assume is the lock off from the 3 Bedroom. My preference is at least a 1 bedroom, but wanted to know in case ...

Thanks everyone.

We're not owners there, merely interested in the advantageous use of our A/C ;) , but I post this sample as an indicator that somehow they are offering a one bedroom villa at MMB.

Our A/C only sees off-season (November/March) so I can't comment on the OP, but wish them well. Looks like a fun place :) Hopefully, we'll get to find out this November...

We just stayed in a 3 bdrm at Marbella Beach (in March) and did the Andaluza tour (for 10,000 points). We scored an upgrade to the 3 bdrm, since we only own a 2 bdrm. From what I remember the lockoff they showed us just had a sink and microwave, and it is 1 bedroom.

The lock-off at Playa is an efficiency type and includes a toaster, micro-wave, coffee maker, fridge and sink. The balcony has limited views as all the 3 bed units are located at the rear of each building.
