We are Canadian snowbirds. We have a mobile home in Crystal Lake Club, a 600 home park in Sebring, smack in the middle of the state. We had some damage to several homes, and some uprooted trees on the golf course as well as flooded fairways. I am very grateful that things turned out much better for us than we anticipated!
Patti's Sister and BIL live in Melbourne Beach. They spent the night in a special, reinforced, and large closet in the middle of the House. Had food, water, lights, radio, comforters, Chemical Toilet, etc. Lots of rain but no Surge. Little to no damage to their property. But they have had enough and are looking to move back north.
Hurricane Milton ripped the ceiling off of Tropicana Field, and now the race is on to get that gaping hole repaired for Tampa Bay's opener on March 27, 2025.
Monday it looked like it was headed to Tampa. Tuesday it seemed to be headed to Venice/Sarasota where I live. They said for zone A, B, and C to evacuate because of storm surge and flooding. We left on Monday evening as it was becoming Cat 4. We left FL and went to South Carolina. It went a bit north of Venice and had a direct hit on Siesta Key, 40 minutes away from me. Cooler air coming in weakened the south side of the storm and I did not get the predicted damage.
Siesta Key is severely impacted on top of all the damage they got two weeks earlier, as is St Armonds circle.
A lot of flooding inland along I 4. Daytona Beach has big flooding.
In addition, about 40 tornados on the east coast.
I am grateful it wasn’t even worse.
