Hi Everyone. I'm currious. What do most tuggers prefer, the original section of Manor Club or the newer part. The newer part are lock off units? The original section are all dedicated 2 bedrooms. If exchanging in for next summer and you want a 2 bedroom what section would you suggest. I seem to recal some pretty strong oppinions on what section is better, but I can't find those threads. As always, thanks.

Hi,
It really depends on what you want as to which part of manor club works for you.
The sequel section is across the road and they are the lock outs. They work well for two couples or when more privacy is needed. Each room has a king bed and the studio has a fold out, sliding doors that open--not a balcony just a railing, and the mini fridge and micro.
The manor club side has full size washer and dryer. The second bedroom has a queen bed (It has been a while--maybe king) The second bed if off of the living room with no exit door of its own so good if you have escape artist little (or not so little) ones.
The activities centre with the movie theatre and games room is on the Manor club side as is the indoor pool.
I seem to remember that the TV in the sequel side is above the fireplace and way way to high for me to enjoy it. On the manor club side I think that it is beside the fireplace and at a much better height.

IF you let us know your traveling party I'm sure people will give much more specific advice.

I've stayed at both. The newer section feels more like a hotel with entries through a main long hallway. The original section the rooms feel more like a condo and less like a hotel. Furnishings are equal, it's the feel/atmosphere that is different. I prefer the original as it felt more like a home, bigger and less hotely. Reading Tspam's post, I do remember getting neck ache watching the high TV but thought that was in original section. I'm probably wrong, but wherever, it is a pain in the neck. Every pun intended.

They upgraded to flatscreens over the fireplace on the manor club side about a year ago, and installed doors over the shelves where the old CRT TV used to be.

They are well above seated eye level.

This is a question that shouldn't even need to be asked. Take the original section every time unless you want a studio or 1BR instead of 2.

The original is much nicer in terms of unit, building location, and view.

Always ask for a high floor golf course view and you will be fine.

Thanks, guys. I knew there was one section people like better and now I know it is the original section. We would want to be where the kid activities are and by the pools and sounds like that is in the original section. How many beds are in the 2 bedrooms in the original section? II says the occupancy is only 6 people. Does that mean there is only one bed in the second room? No sofa bed or anything like that? There has to be something more than just one bed in the second bedroom. Right?

Also, is the Marriott close to the amusement parks?

You will need a car but Williamsburg is small and everything is close. I'm guessing you'll be within 10 miles of the park, probably less. Be sure and wander the campus of The College of William and Mary. If you can find a tour through the admissions office, take it. It's the second oldest college in the USA, founded 6 weeks after Harvard in 1693. Tremendous state school and amazing heritage. (Yes I'm biased, my daughter graduated May 2008).

Colonial Williamsburg is wonderful for all ages and all times of the year. There are lots of good places to eat in town and around town. Try to visit the 'non chains'.

Actually, the large outdoor pool is in the Sequel section. The Original section has a small outdoor poll and a small indoor pool.

In addition, the 2nd bedroom in the Original section has a king size bed. There is no 2nd bed and no sofa bed. There is a window seat that a small child might be able to sleep on, but there is only 1 bed.

If you must be close to the large pool, and you require a sofa bed (in addition to the regular bed) in the 2nd bedroom, then perhaps you would be better off in the Sequel section. The Sequel has these features.

However, as Big Matt and others have said, the Original section is much nicer than the Sequel. The architecture is far superior and it is just much more elegant and classy on the Original side of the resort. There's really a dramatic contrast between the two sections...much more than one might expect at a Marriott.

Finally, no, Marriott's Manor Club is not particularly close to the amusement parks. In fact, it is clear across town...although Williamsburg is still a pretty small town. It's not a bad drive, but it's not especially close, either. If you want to stay close to the parks, then check out Kings Creek Plantation.

Nice to know that others see the difference in the two styles and I'm not just picky. Although, I am picky. :D

My pictures are really dated but we've stayed in the original section. I think it was in 2004 so, I'm sure everything has been updated since. Anyways, the 2nd bedroom did not have a couch so it truely only sleeps 6.
