Manor Club question

Hi All,

I'm happy to say that I just completed an II trade with my 1BR MAR Maui week for a June 23,2007 2 BR at Manor Club.

My first question is (there will likely be more!): is it relevant that my confirmation says 'Manor Club Sequel' ?

We love the look of that big red building shown on TUG's resort review board. I'd hate to show up and find ourselves relegated to an alternate area (less desirable area) on the resort grounds.

This is our first trip to Williamsburg and Manor Club and so I'd very much appreciate any sort of tips or room requests that should be considered.

As always, thanks so much!

Sequal is the newer section with lock off units across the street from the buildings you usually see pictures of.

Oh. Should I consider that more desirable?

Sure like the looks of that Red Brick building. How can I view the newer units? Would anyone recommend trying to change to the primary building?

Thanks!

The newer section is not nearly as nice, IMHO, as the original section. I would tell II you only want the original section, which is II code MMC....not the sequel, MSE.

The original section has bigger villas and nicer furnishings. Truly a colonial experience. The sequel section is kind of like a nice Residence Inn. There is a big difference.

All of the buildings in the original section are brick and have colonial exteriors. The really large building in the TUG pictures is called Berkeley Manor. If you cancel your exchange into MSE and get an exchange into MMC, then you may request to be in the Berkeley Manor. (If you keep the exchange into the sequel, you have no chance of being in any of the original buildings...II treats these as two separate resorts.) Even if you don't get into Berkeley Manor, all of the buildings in the original section are extremely elegant. I particularly like Chesapeake Manor which is located between the lobby and Berkeley Manor.

I havent stayed in the sequal section so I cant advise changing other than saying that the original section is very nice. One advantage to sequal if you have children is that it is closer to the larger outdoor pool and playground area. Thats about the only thing I noticed about MSE different from MMC.

As far as changing to MMC, being II treats it as a different resort, they will likely charge you another exchange fee to move to MSE if it is available.

The Jefferson Building on the original (MMC) side is very nice also. If you have small children I think you might be better off on the MSE side due to the pool and play area being closer to your building. If you don't have small children and are willing to pay another exchange fee I would recommend the MMC side which, IMHO have better views and are closer to the Market Place.

Either way Manor Club is a first class resort.

I've stayed in both. Both are very nice. The MMC side has a better layout for the units, the units are nicer on the outside, and back up to the golf course. They are next to the main building that has the indoor pool and spa and market place. There is an owners lounge and game room in Governors next to the main building.

Great analogy with Residence Inn for Sequel. I agree, big hall way down the center and nondescript. They sequel is also across from the tennis courts and next to the activity center if that matters. On the inside, the sequel units are nice. You actually get more sleeping capacity with a 2BR than in MMC due to the two sleep sofas.

In actuality, not counting Berkely, the Sequel units are the same size or slightly larger than the original, but space is lost due to the lock out infrastructure.

I've stayed in almost every building in the complex, and none are bad. The last unit I stayed in was Berkley and it was disappointing. It was larger, but old, and not as nice as the other units in MMC. The furniture was in disrepair as were the cabinets.

My favorite building is Chesapeake Manor, next is Jefferson (great golf view), then Governors, then Berkley, then across the street at the Sequel.

In the Sequel, request a high floor, end unit the farthest from the elevator. You should have a golf view from that unit.

Email me with any other questions about the resort or Williamsburg.

You won't be disapponted with any unit.

thanks again, Tuggers

Really appreciate the prompt and succinct feedback. I was able to cancel my reservation with II and move over to the original building this morning. the 'Residence Inn' analogy had the wife jumpin on me to quickly re-book.

cheers

Both sides are very nice. I would suggest to you call the Manor Club direct and ask for the Reservation Manager and explain to her your disappointment. Please ask her to work with you in obtaining the MMC side. The Reservation Department are good people.
