Mandatory all inclusive fees!

We have tried doing an exchange with RCI into the Carribean or Mexico and have found that the all inclusive rates are extremely high. We think it is because the resorts have sold out their units and now are making money by charging such high mandatory all inclusive rates.

I have RHC points and all-inclusive varies from resort to resort and there are some without the all-inclusive fees.. You have to search around for the details.

Sort of like ''exchanging'' for a cruise, which is usually very poor value compared to buying it with cash from a cruise discounter.

Any tips on finding a better deal?

I've seen them through the airlines (AA vacations, Delta Vacations, etc) www.skyauction.com though those are a bid deal and not just a 'here's the price' thing.

What I have seen in AI's in timeshares is them screwing the exchanger. Often there is one price for owners and another for exchangers/renters. I'm sure they will get along fine without my business.

You can also rent from a member as they usually get a highly discounted rate for the All Inclusive or even optional, for example I own at Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta and you can choose to do the All Inclusive or not and it is only $59.p/pd for all food/ drinks/ and room service. Can't beat that...

Another is Royal Villas IN Mazatlan, much cheaper all inclusive rate than thru RCI and optional at that...

Those are just a few examples...
