Married to The Chief Of Staff since 1964.
Our old cell phone went defunct -- the flip-phone hinge broke with no possibility of repair, so that was that.

We went over to the Sprint store & scored a new cell phone that's way more advanced than the old 1, & that cost us $0.00 after mail-in rebate.

The make & model of phone we chose is made in a choice of 3 colors -- black, grey, & pink. The only ones left were pink. So with no hesitation we took pink.

It occurred to me later that evening that 1 fringe benefit of being married to the same woman for 44 years is not having any qualms whatsoever about being seen making or taking calls on a pink cell phone.

Is this a great country or what ?

Actually, I don't see what being married to the same woman for 44 years has to do with it. It's perfectly ok for you to get and stay in touch with your feminine side. I would be more worried about how your wife feels about it!:ignore:

If you're really that concerned about it, most cell phones these days have "skins" available to change colors and personalize their appearance.

Dave

P.S. And no, pink is fine. The color will match the shade of your ears after you get done reading your blistering cell phone bill... LOL! :)

You go girl. I mean guy. :)

Yeah, it's a great country alright. Sometimes we have to take what we can get... :)

I love color. The other day I was walking the dog and I was thinking...out of all the colors in the world, why are cars always black or white or gray or beige, the most boring colors ever? I actually feel happy when I see one of those coppery orange cars, or a bright blue one, or a green one, or a red one. You don't even see that many red cars around here! People are soooo boring!

So I say, talk on that pink phone PROUDLY. You are making the world a brighter place!

Shocking Pink. (Not That There's Anything Wrong With That.)

Alan, honestly, I hope I get the chance to meet you one day. I look for your posts and they always give me a lift.

well I see absolutely nothing wrong with a guy on a pink phone....I love it myself...( female)...now my hubby oh geeez...I have pink laptop and pink camera and he won't even carry them, but my son said he would certainly take the laptop if given to him and would use it, just not the pink carry case, but said he thought his dad should have no problem since he is married and can just say it is his wifes LOL.

I heard once a confident man is not afraid to be seen in pink......way to go!!!

I have pink laptop...

DW has a pink laptop that she got to keep our teenaged sons from using. I grabbed it the other day and took it on errands with us because it has a built in broadband card. It doesn't bother me a bit that it's pink. I was kidded about it and just laughed along with the kidder. We used to have a pink cell phone for a backup that had to be carried on occasion. If it's anything I've learned, it's that the pink colored devices of anything operate the same as any other color.:D

. . . Not That There's Anything Wrong With That ?

Shux...it sounds like you are going over to the "other team"
Fear not.

If those cutesy pinky cell phones ever drive me over to the other team, The Chief Of Staff will bring me right back.

. . . Not that there's anything wrong with that.

No, electronic gear is one thing, but I draw the line when it comes to shirts!

Or especially Puffy Shirts? (Not that there's anything wrong with those.)

ESPECIALLY puffy shirts!:hysterical:

And don't sign me up for a pirate part in a play! (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)

I would be really worried if he bought a pink phone and a puffy shirt.

Alan, you are a prize! I think your phone is beautiful...and recognizable, and elegant. Good for you for adding some color to the world!
I will stand in line with the others who hope to meet you one day. ;) Jean

The salesperson at the ATT store told us that a LOT of men choose the pink phones - not sure if they want to impress women, want to be a bit avant-garde, like to be different, or what - but he said it was quite common. (and no, he wasn't trying to sell one to us - we were there for a different reason)

the whole pink-phobia thing is so ridiculous that it's nice to hear about guys willing to cross the line. :cheer:

The Perspective Is Different Up Close.

Actually, I don't see what being married to the same woman for 44 years has to do with it.
That's because you aren't married to her.

She is a gem & I thank God for her every day regardless of telephone color.

Wow! that is pink! Oh well... you go Boy!!!! Wear that phone like you mean it...Now you need a pink golf shirt/hat/shoes to match. :D

Our cell phone providers are our son & daughter-in-law -- we're just riders on their plan, for an added monthly fee to them that we repay automatically via internet billpayer service.

They recently decided it was time to say adios to Sprint PCS & sign up with Verizon Wireless, & they asked if we want in on that. "Sure," we said.

Last night they brought over our new cell phone (which works on our old cell phone number -- go figure) & helped us get started with it.

It turns out the new cell phone -- a Palm Pixi -- is more like a little bitty computer, with tiny TV screen & minute internal sound speaker & miniature typewriter keyboard so small I have to work it 1 letter at a time with my pinky. It is black, but is has an attractive vivid green true blue cover on the back.

Anywhere we go that's covered by the network, we not only can make & get phone calls, we can also tune in to the internet -- right there on the phone if we want, although the "phone" is so small I can't see how web-surfing, etc., or even E-Mail would be practical on it.

No problem. The Palm Pixi is also a portable wi-fi "hot spot," usable virtually anywhere, even at timeshares, meaning we can do TUG-BBS, etc., wherever we have network coverage -- even while roaring down the interstate at a great rate of speed in the minivan (minivan passenger only, that is, not the driver). So for the indefinite future it appears that we will need to take with us on all travels not only the cell phone, but also the portable wi-fi computer. I doubt we'll have much trouble getting used to the new routine.

Placing this technology in the hands of us technologically backward old folks underlines the wisdom of timeshare resorts that did not make costly investments in on-site "free" wi-fi installations (hardware, wiring, 24-7 tech support, etc.), only to have the whole works go obsolete as more & more timeshare owners & renters & exchange guests leapfrog & supersede local wi-fi by bringing along their own Palm Pixi cell phones, various AT&T & Sprint, etc., direct wireless internet devices, & I don't know what-all.

As a timeshare owner, I would not be pleased to be shelling out an extra $10-$15 bux per year in maintenance fees to cover my share of obsolete "free" wi-fi at my timeshare.

Hats off to the HOA-BODs who followed Alexander Pope's advice . . .

Be not the 1st by whom the New are try'd,
Nor yet the last to lay the Old aside.

Good enough for the King

the whole pink-phobia thing is so ridiculous that it's nice to hear about guys willing to cross the line. :cheer

I know that Elvis' favorite colors were black and PINK and he seemed to have no problems with the ladies or pink or self expression of any kind.
Good enough for the King, Good enough for me!

My youngest son carries a pink razor phone he was given by his grandmother after his mom, (uh--that would be me) washed his other phone. I think he kinda likes the attention it gets him. :)

Once I discovered our oldest son wearing MY socks and called him on it, reminding him that they have PINK toes and heals (how I knew they were mine, as well as the reason I bought them) and he reassured me that it didn't matter...that part was hidden inside his shoes so none of his friends knew!

The ATT salesman we get our phones from told us that pink is very popular with guys - he thinks because of the attention they get from girls.
