It has the PG rating because it's about a girl who doesn't know who her father is because her mother slept with three different men within three weeks, twenty years before the story began. The movie kicks off with the girl reading the mother's diary from those days.

There's nothing graphic in the movie, and I don't remember any bad language, it's just that the themes (like adult regret, and recapturing lost love, and not having any money) are all basically PG.

I wouldn't take little children to it. We took my 9yo and she enjoyed it but was confused. Mind you, there is NO WAY I would take her to Dark Knight, which is rated PG or PG-13 for violence.

It is actually pg-13. How little are the kids? I think the content is a little mature for what I would want my little kids to see but then again I am one of those parents who did not let my kids see a pg-13 until they were at least 12 and then I did not like it. I always figured they grew up fast enough without me pushing it. Just my opinion, of course.
The content is a sexual due to the fact that the main character had sex with three different guys, got pregnant and did not know who the father was.

There are a few lines such as the daughter saying to her mother, "I don't care if you slept with 100 guys."

The movie shows some quick looks between two gay characters, along with one of them saying something along the lines of "she's the ONLY woman I ever slept with".

There are a few scenes between a middle-aged actress who acts very sexy and a sexy very young man, with him trying to put moves on her and her acting the vamp but saying he's too young. In one instance he is standing and she drops down in front of him, apparently on her knees. He makes big eyes and people look shocked, but then when she comes up again she hadn't been doing what we were supposed to think she was doing..... I'd be uncomfortable with those scenes for a younger teen.

Oh, yeah. I forgot that scene. Christine Baranski dances suggestively with a very hot, very young man; they're on the beach and so not wearing a lot of clothes.

Oh, lordy, no. Not a preschooler. Didn't realize how young we were talking. Stick with G for now. Even the PG kids' movies have some naughty stuff--I know people who were angry about some of the innuendo in Shrek II.

I went to see it today! It was as much fun as the 2 plays I saw. Fun fun fun. I've been trying to get to see it since it came out.

Today was my day and so loved it! As uplifting and fun as I hoped.

Still have the songs going in my head. Sure my hubby will just love that as we sleep, I will probably break out in song at some early hour, but better than screaming! I am a craxy dreamer. At least it is the weekend.

I can't wait till it comes out on DVD.

Oh and Pierce's singing didn't bother me at all!

After all the other 6 people left the theater, I sat there and watched the credits and sang along with it, it just made me happy!

Hello? Hello? Anybody There? (I'm Not Hearing Anything On This Pink Cell Phone.)

Darn, I was hoping your link was to a photo of the man with a pink phone.
Click here to the see the joint owners of the Pink Cell Phone -- The Chief Of Staff & me standing side by side at HGVC Sea World a couple of years ago.

At the time, we were still making do with a grey cell phone.

So it goes.

d/w and I went with 4 other couples (all early 50's) and we all had a ball. 6 of us had been together on Santorini earlier this year which is similar to the island setting so that made it more special.

I echo all the comments and will also buy the DVD. I have the CD of the musical in my car and my 8 year old granddaughter really likes the music. I was nervous about taking her to the movie because of the content and theme. Too bad, because the music is awesome and great for all generations!

Being the big (non) movie-goers that we are, DW and I went to Mama Mia last night. The tunes are still looping in my head! We loved it! I, too had thought Pierce Brosnan's voice was a little underwhelming, but so be it. Maybe that made it a little more 'real'. Not that there's anything 'real' about a Busby Berkeley production number on a dock in tha Aegean Sea.

Anyway, it was a fun movie. Great music. The theme, while adult, is nothing that a young teen couldn't deal with. I suppose that explains the PG-13.

The March Of Time.

Hey Alan, Thanks for the link to your photo. It's nice to see what our on-line friends look like.
That shot was taken by the resort photographer of HGVC Sea World when we were there on RCI exchange in September 2005.

The Chief Of Staff looks even better today than she does in the photo.

I look worse now than in the picture, having graduated from Vibrant Middle Age to being just a Kindly Older Gentleman -- not that there's anything wrong with that.

So it goes.
