I am new at this. Advanced paid an exchange fee with II may of 05 to get one of four properties for Summer 2006. The 4 properties are: Big Sky, or South Lake Tahoe, 2-Marriotts or Embassy suites.

They have not found me anything and i am 4-5 months away. i only put up a 1 bedroom unit. They call once a month and ask if i want to add any other properties to list.

1) am i doomed to fail at this? I am looking for a better resort than what i booked (Oak and Spruce).
2) since my booked week has passed, does it matter that i am trying for a better place.
3) If you have advice, i would appreciate it. i wanted to stay near Yellowstone, or Yosemite, but wanted a nice place.
4) what would you expect to happen when i get into the 60 day window
thanks
Art

Just my opinion, but I think you're expecting too much from your modest trader. The areas you are seeking are tough for summer. I would, at a minimum, open it up to any available resort. Even then, at this late date you are likely to be disappointed.

I tried for the Yellowstone area a couple of years ago, starting rather late, and was forced to rent from a couple of private owners when nothing became available.

I would ask the II folks for help in finding something you have a shot at getting. I think by 60 days out most of the units will be long gone for summer.

JMHO.

Tahoe is not a good location to visit Yosemite from - the Worldmark resort at Bass Lake is much closer. It's almost 200 miles from Tahoe to Yosemite, further if Tioga pass is still closed. Tahoe to Yosemite

I agree with Denise, you wouldn't want to stay in Lake Tahoe to visit Yosemite, but if you want to add a few days to your trip afterward, that seems reasonable.

I think you're asking for the most popular places to stay (Marriott/Embassy) and may have better luck requesting any resort in Lake Tahoe, if you still want to visit there.
