My daughter and her husband use some of my points with my complete agreement. Now as a kind of gift toward my retirement, they want to take over my fees by transferring the payment info to one of their credit cards. Of course I am gobsmacked by their generosity. They do not want to be on the deeds.
Will Wyndham be okay with this change or will they push for adding my daughter and son-in-law to the deeds? The bottom line is that Wyndham will continue to receive their money Any opinion?
The ease with which this can be done depends upon 1) how you currently pay your maintenance fees, and 2) if their idea is to pay all of your fees or just for the points that they use.
If you use Auto-Pay, they will not be able to make a separate payment online to cover a part or even all of your fees. The Speedpay feature on the web site requires that there is some amount due before it will accept a payment. With Auto-Pay there is never an amount due because as soon as the fee registers as due, it is immediately paid. Calling Wyndham to make a payment may work, I'm not sure.
If they want to take over the entire fee, whether or not you use Auto-Pay, Auto-Pay should be initiated using their credit card information. This helps to guarantee that it gets paid
If they want to pay part of the monthly fee and you use Auto-Pay, you must disable it for a period surrounding their payment in order to create an amount due.
This looks like a good problem/opportunity to have.
