I am looking at getting a Panasonic Lumix fz200. Anyone have opinion and/or experience they would like to share?

Cheers,

Paul

Not with Panasonic, my family has been NIKON owners for 30+ years. Personally, if I am going to buy a camera, I am going to buy from a CAMERA company, not an electronics company.

I have the predecessor, an FZ150. The FZ100's had numerous problems from what I read but generally the FZ150 was much better. I must say it feels light and some of the controls are a bit awkward for me but I'm a lefty. For the price though I really like it. I bought an adapter and a 1.7X teleconverter for mine so I get incredible distance at a very reasonable price. It does need to be stabilized for those photos but any camera would need the same. If price weren't a factor or I didn't need/(actually want) the distance I would have gone with a Nikon however. You might try dpreviewdotcom to get some hands on thoughts and impressions. Happy snapping.

I have two - the FZ28 and the ZS10. Both were ground-breaking. The FZ28 was one of the first super zooms (18x, which seems paltry nowdays, but that was quite a while ago). The ZS10 was one of the first pocket-sized super zooms (16x, ditto above). I've always loved them - they take great pictures. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another Panasonic camera.

I have a Panasonic Lumix GF1, and it is excellent. I also have a Nikon D3100, and it has ended up collecting dust since I got the Lumix.

I had a Lumix ZS7 that took excellent pictures. It was compact, easy to use yet with many capabilities, and a great 12X optical zoom Leica lens. Unfortunately, I took it out to get pix of a dust storm on a backpacking trip. Yes, stupid I know, but it was an impressive storm. Anyway, that got dust into the workings that killed it. Such a shame - I got a lot of wonderful photos with that camera!

My Christmas gift

DH bought me a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LF1 after much research to find me a camera that combined point/shoot with higher skill selections such as aperture and speed settings. It's wifi compatible.

This camera has a viewfinder and a zoom that is 8 power I think. My previous Panasonic had a 10x zoom but no viewfinder and the glare was problematic.
There are photo edit features right on the camera. So far so good, but I'm the kind of person who wants a camera that is lightweight and small so as to fit in my purse. It's ideal for me as a casual photographer who enjoys taking fotos without much fuss, but if I choose, can learn the camera's more advanced features.

I have that camera and love it. I am not enough of a photographer to explain why, except its user friendly. I had a much earlier version, and Amazon bought that back and I got this one.

But Panasonic, an electronics company with less experience in optics went to Leica to get lenses.

A friend had the indestructible with the pancake lens. It's great.

Yes, they do have a Leica lens. And zooms up to like 1/2 mile.
