This is the final season where everything is supposed to be wrapped up. In the second show of this season, Ethan appears as the obstetrician for Claire in the "Alternate Reality" where the plane did not crash.

My thoughts. If the alternate reality was going to provide a different result, Ethan wouldn't be there delivering Claire's baby. If you remember, Ethan stole Claire's baby in the first season. He was instructed to get that baby. My guess is that the alternate reality will end with same results- everybody back on the island. Some kind of destiny will bring them back to the island but in a different way - even in the alternate realtiy.

It seems that Claire's baby may be the key to the resolution of this battle between Jacob and the "smoke thing". At this point, Claires' child is in the care of Claire's mother. I think that is about to change.

Thoughts?

I found it odd that the police could not find a big yellow taxie ( GPS )( driver ran off, handcuff guy ) plus I guess it went back to the airport.
I think Lost started off great but now too much stuff has happened. They changed the day it was on, the time it was on, summer break, the island moved, another crash, new players, and I feel the viewing public just got
" L O S T "

I am totally lost.
I'm not going to try to figure it out, but I like seeing the characters make all those quizzical faces and serious looks of concern at each other.

One thing I do wonder though: Does anyone on that island ever take a shower or wash their hair?

I watched the first two hours of the first show and GAVE UP. I felt as though I had reached into a can of snakes. I didn't watch much from last year for the same reason. I really like the characters, but there was just too much back and forth and dying and reappearing. I'm done with it. jmho

I love following LOST - even with all its crazy twists and turns.

A dear friend from work had a very heavy accent from her native land. Her English was very difficult to understand, especially when she was excited and spoke fast. Another friend once told me that the way she best understood our mututal friend was to NOT concentrate on each word, but to realize that she would understand what was intended by the end of the conversation. This worked for me and many others.

This is the way I follow LOST - I smile at some of the crazy details I catch from time to time, but I basically enjoy the ride. I also hope and think I will understand what the writers and producers intended by the finale.

For me, LOST is one of the best TV shows ever. I agree with a poster on a LOST message board - hope that the LOST finale will be followed next season by FOUND!!!!

I was at the hospital scene where they filmed Claire in labor. They filmed it several months back in the hospital I work at. I was operating on the floor below where they were shooting and I got to check out the set and say hi to the actresses while they were on break.

I've actually run into most of the actors and actresses on the show over the years. I used to live less than a mile from Evangeline Lilly. Of course, I didn't know that until her house burned to the ground and was on the news.

been watching this show from the beginning...and even after 6 seasons it makes me want to throw my TV into the lake after each episode.

Does anybody else think that the "alternate" no crash reality will still end up with everyone back on the island?

i avoided this show until a few months back. then, i got hooked watching it on Netflix streaming. I am now all caught up, every single episode. If I had been watching since the beginning season without the ability to start the next episode right away, I would have thrown my TV into the lake after each episode too.

i wish i waited just one more season before i got hooked.

That theory makes alot of sense to me but what about all the people who didn't die after all and are now running around like Ethan and Charlie

I think that part of the war between Jacob and the "smoke thing" involves impersonating or taking over the bodies of dead people. Just like what happened with Locke. Locke was dead but the smoke thing took over or impersonated him almost perfectly.

The leader of the temple (the guy who tried to poison Sayeed) knew that Claire was Jacks sister and that Sawyer's real name was Ford. But when Jack and Sayeed and Sawyer and Hurley showed up at the temple he treated them like the enemy. Maybe that is because they cannot trust their own eyes and realize that people may be dead or impersonations.

Maybe Charlie and Ethan etc. are not real. I am just taking a few shots at getting some idea of what is going on.

So did anything ever come of the monster in the crashed airplane that killed the pilot? I'm thinking it was in Season One? This was around the time the Polar Bear showed up.

And speakling of the Polar Bear. Did they ever explain how that was possible? Or where it went? Or why it didn't come back out of the bushes to eat someone else? Did it leave the island with the boy when the pirates kidnapped him?

And speaking of the pirates...

I'm really, really sorry, everyone who loves the show. I honestly tried to enjoy Lost from the beginning. I really did. But after dead people started being not dead, and reality started to become unrealoty, it just lost me as a viewer. It was waaay too convoluted to make any sense of, and I have better things to do than get mad at a stupid TV show that can't decide what the hell it's going to be. Sort of the kind of thing that happened to Heroes.

And I don't have a lake to throw my TV into. ;)

yes, the monster was revealed as one of the two "godlike" chars that live on the island...one appears to be evil (smoke creature) and one appears to be good....kind of a god/devil thing goin on I guess.

who knows anymore.

I can't believe this stupid show has been on this long.

Like anything in the entertainment field, it is strictly a matter of taste. I like the production values, the directing, and the acting. I like the characters and find them very interesting. The story is difficult, but I like guessing and am anxious to see how they wrap it up.

Speculating about what it all means and where the writers are going with the story is part of the enjoyment. Particularly, in the final season when there is an end in sight.

I am not trying to convince anyone to like the show. But if you do like it, this could be a place to discuss it.

I actually don't like the show all that much, but having it filmed in our back yard makes it somewhat interesting. Without that I'm pretty sure I would've stopped watching it a long time ago.

Thanks, Brian. I'm sure I'll break down and rent the series after it's finally done. I think it'd make more sense if I can watch it, one episode after another. The breaks, frequent reruns, and long delays between new shows went a long way to losing me.

In the final episode, Bobby will walk in in his pajamas and say I had this strangest dream.

Charles

PS I hope it isn't Twin Peaks all over again.

That would be a major ripoff. I doubt that is going to be the case - but can't exclude it 100% as a possibility. I read an article written for wired magazine by the shows creator (whose name escapes me at the moment) and don't think that is his style.

The show seems to be making a statement about the conflict between "free will" and "destiny". Ben made a choice to kill Jacob and that changed things. On the other hand, the main characters can't seem to shake their destiny to be on the island subjected to certain events.

They seem to have been called to the island by Jacob to engage in a struggle on behalf of Jacob against the smoke thing. A battle that jacob foresaw but could not change. Perhaps these god like creatures cannot change destiny - but people can. Perhaps these god like creatures are just observers with limited powers that appear to be unlimited to the human mind.
