Looking to trade into Timber Lodge

I am just wondering what your thoughts are on my chances of getting a 2 bedroom exchange into Timber Lodge next July or August. I used my Marriott Ocean Watch end of August week that I deposited last year. (Gold) I did the request in July, 1 year out. I have been offered studios and 1 bedrooms, but no 2 bedrooms. I know it's early but I am wondering if there might be a 2 bedroom or do most people just split their week and deposit half? We are not skiers so we are looking to go when the weather is warm. What is the weather like in June or September? Maybe I should add those months on. We are a retired couple with adult kids.

Likely won’t have problem in mid September after kids leave for school. Not sure if gondola rides still function at that time, but beautiful time of year. Also, if you can get grand residence (next door) grab it!

It will be very cold at night in early June and later on in September. Go look at monthly weather to see what I mean. I find it really fun that it can be hot (not humid) during the day and cold at night. There will be snow at higher elevations in the Sierras also.
 
We traded in without a problem for a 2 bedroom in September this year. September is probably easier then summer months. I hope weather will be nice and a good time to be in South Lake Tahoe. I would think considerably less busy.

I just have an exchange request in for Timber Lodge. Is GR another good option? Any other resorts I should consider in the area? I keep getting messages from II that they have Americana Resort availability. We usually stay with Marriott or Westins

On October 13, 2016 I used a DSV II one bedroom to trade into a 3 bedroom Timber Lodge unit for August 26, 2017 checkin. Be patient. With schools starting in mid August in many places late August can be an easier trade.
 
I've been there five times in about 7 years. Once on an AC, once on a 2 for 1 and three times with exchanges. On the exchanges, I used a DSV efficiency to get a 1 bedroom (twice) and once using a DSV 1 BR to get a 2 BR. I have been there in May, June and July.

If you want a 2 BR I recommend that you deposit at least a 1 BR. Perhaps that is what you did. Although I did primarily manual exchanges, I recommend that you put in an on-going request. If you want to increase your odds of an exchange, you may want to consider adding September and perhaps the last half of June. Both are still pretty nice weather wise. I've been there is May and early June and the weather was nice but cool at night. Also in May and early June, the gondola may be shut down as well as some restaurants.

@vlapinta, the GR is a great place but what turns me off is the stiff mandatory daily parking fee.
 
I don't know if OP has any MVC points to use but I just checked. Any day is available to check into a two bedroom for seven nights in July and August using MVC points. The point value needed for whole week drops in the middle of August.

I do not have MVC points. I have an on going search. I deposited a 2 bedroom Ocean Watch last year. At this point I have time and I am going to be patient and see what happens

I am an owner at Timber Lodge. Grand Residence is great. There is one small timeshare (I hesitate to call it a resort) that sits right on the water that I like. Have to look up the name of it from a prior exchange.
 
I trade into Tahoe and Park City summer weeks regularly. I believe that with a Two bedroom gold week your chances are almost certain. I also think as long as you list several weeks you don’t have to add other months. That said, The more flexible you are the sooner you get confirmed. Good luck!

Dave I have all of July and August listed with an on going search. I just have Tiber Lodge listed. I didn't list GR because I don't like the idea of not having a washer/dryer in the unit. There was a Hyatt that looked beautiful but it is on the North side and I could be wrong, but the South side looks like where most of the action is :)

This year I spent a week at the Welk Northstar (Truckee) and a week at the Timberlodge. We had dinner at Garwoods (right on the lake) and at Jakes on the Lake (also right on the lake). I am slightly familiar with the Hyatt (High Sierra?) on the Northside. Looks nice and is close to lake but I recall that the units were not on the lake. I thought that there was actually quite a bit to do on the north side of the lake.

If you, @vlapinta , like the reviews of the Hyatt and add it to your request, you have increased the chance of a match substantially.

How about Newport Coast after Timber Lodge? It will be a nice contrast between the two California destinations and should be an easy flight from Sacramento airport.
 
I think I want to do Newport Coast area another time. I am looking for something else within driving distance
 
San Francisco is about 4 hours away from Tahoe (depending on traffic.)

Yeah. Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks.

I'm hoping you had an ongoing search. I just released a 2 bedroom July 11 - July 18 week at the Timber Lodge in Interval. Good luck!

I did have an ongoing search. I got August 9th. I had the whole month of July and August (except July 11th week blocked off because my oldest nephew is getting married in Daytona).
