Looking to Sell TS at a Loss

That new member orientation with the extra points for attending isn't about educating you on how to use your membership; it's about selling you more. Your best bet for actual orientation is to ask questions here and get answers from other owners.
If you want the extra points for attending, recognize that it is merely a sales pitch and go in accordingly. Get a time limit commitment and then make them honor it. You will have to be firm. Any questions you ask will be answered in whatever way the sales person (aka orientation leader) thinks will make you buy more. You can safely assume that most timeshare sales people lie so take any answer you receive with a huge grain of salt. As a result, asking questions is a waste of time.
Yeah so during our initial presentation they made us wait there and so are 90 minute presentation turned into 6 hours by the time we were signing our paperwork

This new member orientation is supposed to be 60 minutes it is at 8:30 in the morning and at 9:30 in the morning I am going to tell them we are going to leave no matter where in the presentation they are 🤣🤣🤣

In fact part of the reason for wanting to attend the new member orientation is so that I can get put back into those groups of sales people that they had us there for the presentation and I'm going to spend most of the time telling them how they originally ripped us off and just how upset I actually am at the difference between what they tell us and the difference in reality so honestly I wouldn't want to be them necessarily when we go there for our hour because it's not going to be very friendly.

They are used to it. Your comments won't impact them at all. Unless you need those extra points, cancel. It's a waste of time and energy. Eliminate the negative and move on to enjoying a trip someplace.

And did I read it correctly; did you actually pay for this orientation? That's just salt in the wound.

I agree with this. It will have no impact and in fact will just make the whole thing take longer.

@vanni13 They will have counter arguments to everything you say. They will lie to you and then make up more lies. The thing is the lies on top on lies and counter arguments to you giving them a piece of your mind just extends the process. Your goal should be to get the gifted points to add to your purchased points as efficiently as possible. You already know they are unscrupulous. Trying to give them scruples is tilting at windmills that YOU pay the price for, with your valuable vacation time. Don’t fall into this trap! Then you’ve been injured by them twice: once when they ripped you off and then a second time when they stole your vacation.

My approach is to just let them give their spiel. Don’t feign interest. Don’t ask questions to demonstrate your knowledge. Don’t try to shame them into growing some scruples. Give brief answers when they ask you questions. Let them say their piece. If they really try to engage you, tell them you’re tapped out and can’t afford any more. When they get to the end of their spiel, just say No. when the next guy comes in say No. If they start late, I mention I need to be somewhere at 5 minutes after whatever the end time you agreed to (I once had a salesman get spicy with me when I mentioned he was starting 10 minutes late and I had to be somewhere at X time. He invited me to leave if I ā€œdidn’t have the timeā€. I told him I had until X minus 5 mins, and I’d be happy to leave if necessary. Lol, he backed off on his spicy tone.). If they get close to the designated finish time, I mention I need to be somewhere at X.

Mr H feels like it’s polite to ask follow up questions and I have to remind him who we are dealing with: someone who wants to rip us off and tell us untruths. No need to be rude, but also engaging in polite niceties at the expense of our time is not a smart use of our time.

They will just pat themselves on the back for doing a good job. Don't bother - giving them energy is a waste. Enjoy your vacation(s).

I think from now on, I will take the latest timeframe so when they know u arent buying, they will more likely let u leave once time is up. I normally take the earliest, but still find I stay at min 3-4 hrs without buying. I stock up on all the snacks during the whole timeframe too. U better. Get up randomly for bathroom breaks or "smoke breaks". Control the time. Dont sit there and take it the whole time.

During our initial "orientation" update after our first purchase, we got a rather good salesman at Orange Lake. He wasnt in a suit either, and actually provided a lot of info and kinda told us about this site. Talked to us like a normal person. Not a robot who needed to make a sale. A rarity. Since then, its been a bunch of high pressure robots staying on script.
