Hi everyone I am brand new to this group and so glad I found it. Have been a time share owner with Interval for over 5 years and just recently purchased a points system time share through RCI.

Time and time again we book a timeshare hop on the plane first thing my DH wants to see when we arrive is the fitness facilities and he is usually less then impressed. So far cruising has offered the best in fitness options.

So I am looking for resort suggestions that pride themselves on their fitness facilities, free weights, bikes, steppers, treadmills. 2 resorts he just didn't even bother weights were too small, equipment was broken, old out dated.

I have seen a search option for health spa but not sure that's what I am looking for. He is a weight lifter and likes to be able to work out more then usual while we vacation.

I welcome any and all suggestions we like to head to warm weather in January February, and tolerable temps summer and fall.

Welcome to TUG. I've never heard of a timeshare that brags about its fitness facilities. At best, they're mentioned in passing, as something they "have," but only for the casual user. The average timeshare owner may be in reasonable shape, but looking for something to appease a weight lifter may be a bit of a challenge. I'll be curious to see what you find out.

Wyndham Palm Aire in Pompano Beach has a nice fitness facility.

When my son used to go with us on a week long vacation, he would seek out an LA Fitness or some other facility dedicated to physical fitness. They almost always had a trial or temporary membership. :whoopie:

My DH also complains about the "whimpy" equipment at hotels and timeshares. He goes to 24-hour Fitness. If he can't find one of those, he checks out local gyms. He used to lift quite a bit. On the sled, he would put 22 plates on each side (44 total). That's 1980 pounds.

He doesn't do that anymore. Had to have knee surgery on each knee for damaged meniscus. And, he's not young anymore. :hysterical:

I also like to work out and weight train on vacation and am a Marriott owner. In my recent experiences, the MVC Palms (Royal, Imperial, Sabal) have access to the best timeshare workout facility because you can use the Marriott World Center resort gym. This has several weight machines and dumbells, as well as a Smith machine. Marriott Newport Coast Villas also has adequate weight and cardio equipment.

Ocean Pointe recently 'upgraded' their equipment, but I definitely preferred their old equpt. I think the equipment selectors at the timeshares are impressed by appearance of the machines rather than functionality. Very few timeshare gyms currently have lat bars or decline boards.

I previously enjoyed Canyon Villas because platinum Marriott Rewards members had complimentary access to the JW Spa workout room. However, this (along with most other MR platinum benefits) is no longer available. Most Marriott facilities have adequate cardio, but limited weight training equipment.

The Renaissance Club Sport Hotel in Walnut Creek is on the same property of a great private club, and hotel guests have full usage access to the club.

The ones I've found with nice facilities were the Aruba Surf Club, Aruba Ocean Club which uses the Marriott hotel's fitness facilities and IIRC, Marriott's hotel/timeshare in Kauai...think it's called Kauai Beach Club.

Pueblo Bonito Rose & Sunset Beach in Cabo have nice workout & spa facilities.

Disney's Saratoga Springs & Spa Resort has a very nice workout room in the Spa. According to DH it's the best he has seen in our travels.
