Has anyone stayed in the 1 bedroom 1 bath exchange at this resort?

We don't know that this is a lockoff of the 1 bedroom 2 bath unit - when we received our exchange confirmation for next August, it said that it slept 4 privately. The MVC website does have 1 bed, 1 bath units available as well as 1 bed 2 bath units, but we were concerned by the floorplans listed there (they look inconclusive as to seperate bedroom/living rooms) and called the Marriott desk at II. The rep indicated that the unit we reserved did sleep 4 privately, in a seperate bedroom and living room but it would be great to get confirmation from someone here on TUG too. Has anyone exchanged there into this size unit or does anyone own a 1 bedroom/1 bath? Thanks!

We stayed in the 2 bedroom 2 bath lock off unit. The efficency side had its own entrance and the lock off doors between the bedroom & bathroom to the other side. The 1 bedroom 1 bath side had a master bedroom with an attached bath, and a living room with a sleeper sofa in the living room/mini kitchen area. This side would be considered 1 bedroom 1 bath sleeping 4 privately. I believe I heard the sleeper sofa is now a murphy bed, but this sounds like the unit type you should be receiving.

Vicki. The Kauai Beach Club (KBC) consists primarily of one-bedroom/two bath units ranging from 714 – 882 square feet. There are less than 40 two-bedroom/two bath units. The one-bedroom are converted two hotel rooms and the two-bedroom are converted three hotel rooms.

If you have exchanged for a 1 bedroom 1 bath at this resort it is the one bedroom/one bath lock-off side of the two-bedroom/two-bath unit. The two-bedroom/two bath unit when locked-off has one bath in the “master suite” 1 bath in the "efficiency" lock-off.

I suggest that you call the KBC direct and see if can upgrade to the one-bedroom/two bath unit. That second bathroom is very convenient indeed - even for just two. You will be at a great property. It is not a condo vacation - more of a resort vacation with all the amenities of a resort. I love it despite the hefty maintenance fees.

Thanks to both posters/repliers!

We are relieved that this unit has a seperate living area with pullout couch or murphy bed for our (to be then) 9 year old daughter. The resort sounds fantastic and we're looking forward to seeing Kauai from there (will contrast to Koa 'Lina on Oahu which we will be staying at the previous week). We may see about upgrading our unit within the 45/60 day window but won't stress too much if it doesn't happen.

Thanks again for the responses!

Sorry - one other question about this resort...

We know the kitchens are somewhat limited and have no problem there, but were wondering if there were grills available onsite. One of the older reviews seemed to indicate that there were not but I suspect they might have been added by now, even if not provided originally?

Thanks!
Vicki

There were several grills on the left side of the pool toward the Ha'upu wing in April.

When we stayed in a 1 BR, 2 BA unit, it was fine for the 2 of us, but I sure wouldn't recommend it for 4. If it's just 2 of you, and your daughter, it whould be OK. We did find ourselves doing a little shifting to try to use the "kitchen facilities", since the table and chairs made it a very crowded area. We did have an ocean front unit in the Hana (I think) tower. The location is great.
