Looking for Nanea 3bedroom. Best options?

thank you for that. I was a little worried about what would be available at the 8-month mark knowing that 3br OF are already pretty limited. I will keep that in mind.

Not sure I've ever seen 3-br available at 8 months, but I hadn't been specifically looking for a 3-bed and also mainly look for summer weeks (peak).

How set are you on not liking the lock-offs? If you are set on going to Maui every year vs. other places, I'd go for one of the WKORVs that way you will get what you buy at a minimum and still have a good shot with SOs. The Kierland/SVV options will cost less and better if you are open to other destinations (like me), but if you are set on Maui, there is a chance you can get shut out at 8 months for some of the higher demand weeks. JMO. The maui mandatory resorts will cost more in MFs, but it comes with some benefit.

A good option, but I would be cautious to pursue this path for a couple of reasons:
1. 3bdr OF is tough to book using staroptions. You need to compete with a large group of people at 8 month. Be prepare to sit in front of a computer at 12am EST every Fri/Sat/Sun for a straight month in order to grab one.
2. Westin Nanea has its own point system - homeoption, which is separated from staroption. Right now, weeks not reserved by the owners are put in the staroption inventory, but in the future can Marriott deposit them into Abound pool instead?
After Marriott/Vistana merger, the future of staroption program is unpredictable. If you really like the 3bdr OF at Nanea, I'd say buy the OF homeoption from the resale market. Keep checking redweek patiently, you will eventually find one. That's how I got mine;).
The StarOption approach has become worse with Marriott's "improved" website. One can no longer determine in advance of the opening of reservations whether there is availability; that functionality was recently removed. So when you don't find availability, you won't even know whether there was never availability or whether you just didn't get the reservation.

You could spend 365 days/year in front of a computer screen at midnight Florida time seeking reservations, because Nanea isn't only a Saturday-to-Saturday resort; HomeOption owners can make reservations starting (and ending) any day of the week.

I see. Thank you for that insight. I am not completely against the lock-offs at the nearby resorts. I should probably stay in one to check it out. I just really liked the layout of the 3bedroom at the Nanea and have only looked at the floorplan of the lock-offs. I do normally go in the off-season (usually late April or early May, and then again in November). With that said, it still looks like slim pickings at the 8-month mark from what I am being told.

The lack of a good availability calendar is definitely a huge turn-off.
