I am a new member with Tug (definitely wish I had discovered this site a few years ago:eek: ). Here is my scenario in a shortened version:

My husband and I have a timeshare with Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach which we bought 5 years ago. In Nov. of this year we bought 2 weeks with Grupo Mayan (one bedroom - Mayan Palace) and fell for the same scam as I now know others have regarding selling PBSB and using that money to pay for the Mayan Palace. Of course, we now know that we cannot get nearly what we had been told for our PBSB timeshare. Here is my question.

1. We already paid the deposit of $6,000 and owe $10,000 more by March. Has anyone ever tried at this stage to negotiate with GM to get more for their money. i.e. Tell them that it is not worth me paying the additional $10,000 (basically forfeit the deposit) unless they can make it a 2 bedroom unit or something along those lines. I am hoping that they will want the $10,000 rather than having to come after us for it.

I hope that made sense.....now knowing how they screwed us over we would just like to try and get more for our money.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome, it makes sense.

They will probably ask you to sign some new contract that put you more into debt for 2 BD upgrade. As to forfeit $10,000, since it probably can not fetch that much in resale market, unless they are still very active in selling, they probably would not want it anyway.

You maybe able to use RCI or II to trade back to them for 2 BD.

You may want to ask moderator to move this post to other forums like Mexico, or Buying/Selling/Renting one. You may get more help from expertist on these subject matters.
