I scored a really cheap flight to Atlanta next Feb.,
and want to spend a couple days there doing The Coke, CNN,and aquarium.
Would like to then drive to the east and tour the Savannaha, and Charlston areas. (suggestions?)
Does any one have any ideas as to which resorts, and in what areas would be the best to search for, that would give me a good base to do some day trips from to enjoy those areas and any other areas that might be suggested. Thanks.

Timeshare?

If it doesn't need to trade as a timeshare you might check out Wild Dunes on the Isle of Palms right outside of Charleston. Beautiful gated resort with lots of condos, golf course, on the ocean.

The flexibility if you need less than a week would work for you if you rented from a private owner.

It's a great area. We're at Seabrook this week - hoping for some great weather tomorrow!

Charleton, Savannh area.

Thanks for the reply.
We'll probably trade or try to get a extra vac.from RCI, however I will look into the renter aspect as I don't expect to need a whole week. Thanks for the suggestion.
Mainly looking for the most convieient location/resort for these two touristy areas.
Any more anyone?

Coral Sands, Island Links, Port O' Call, Royal Dunes Players Club, Grandview, Capital Vacations VIP Gold, and about 850K RCI points.
Wyndham Ocean Ridge on Edisto Island is my home resort. Great historic place----Charleston is 45 miles north @ Savanah & Hilton Head are 1.5 hours south.

A thought...

Does any one have any ideas as to which resorts, and in what areas would be the best to search for, that would give me a good base to do some day trips from to enjoy those areas...

Just a very few driving minutes outside of Savannah, there is a coastal timeshare facility called Tybrisa, located on Tybee Island. It might even be right on the beach (can't recall). RCI affiliated, I believe.

I don't know the place personally, nor do I have any idea of your chances of being able to "exchange" into it. I'm merely mentioning that it exists and that it may warrant your further investigation. Savannah is a great place and well worth a few days of visit and exploration, imho.

There are two timeshares in Charleston. Lodge Alley Inn and Church St Inn.

Thanks again for the feedback.

I've been "googling" and searching RCI for some of your suggestions, Finding some near Hilton Head, and some near Edisto Beach too that look interesting and convienient to making day trips to Savannah and Charleston and also enjoying the area in between as I am starting to notice.

I appreciate the feedback and more is welcome, as nothing is more reliable and trustworthy as TUGGERS who have been there and done that. .

You may want to consider Hilton Head as as a base. There are many more timeshares there than in Charleston or Savannah. Hilton Head is closer to Savannah than it is to Charleston. Edisto is a little remote for me, and Tybee Island would make for a long drive to Charleston.

I would also suggest Hilton Head if you want a base to explore both Charleston and Savannah. Beaufort is also close by and is an interesting place to explore with a day trip from Hilton Head.

However, if you don't mind moving, Bluegreen has a brand new vacation club in Savannah called "The Studio Homes at Ellis Court". The location is in the historic district of Savannah. We are going to give it a try in May. You do not have to reserve a full week at this resort - two day minimum - if it even shows up on RCI yet.

Then, there is a Bluegreen vacation club in Charleston called the Lodge Alley Inn. It also has a great location and you can walk to a lot of things such as the market and waterfront and many dining establishments. It can also be reserved for two nights. I know Charleston has several other time shares.

Also, both Savannah and Charleston have chain hotels in great locations (Marriott-Savannah waterfront, Hyatt -Savannah historic district) if you have loyalty points with Marriott, Holiday Inn, Hyatt, etc. or own a time share that allows you to use points toward hotel chains.

Good luck................

You guys are great. Right now my head is filled with possibilities.
I will contact RCI about the Bluegreen units, from what I've "googled" they are points based, of which I don't have and will start offering them as such in 2012 sometime.
The Hilton Head suggestions is where I am leaning towards if I can find the right place that is available However, If I can find some points, and do the nights at the Bluegreen in Savannah and Charleston, I may. Right now RCI doesn't have what I am looking for in an exchange. I do feel I have plenty of time to search and request as we are not going, as I mentioned until next year.
Thanks again, looking forward to your great suggestions.
