After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"
Now that my DH David and I are both retired (AND my sister recently retired in November), I'm looking forward to the upcoming year and A LOT of travel. What do you have planned as we ring in the New Year?

My/Our travel will look like a sampling of all of the various modes of vacationing I enjoy!

February/March: Back-to-back cruises (14 days total) out of Miami (with my sister)
March: 1 week in the Smoky Mountains in a timeshare - the 1st year of our 3 Wyndham Certified Exit freebies (with David)
May/June: 2 weeks in Ireland; 1 week in a timeshare rental from a fellow TUGGER plus a week cottage rental (with David + my sister)
July/August: 2 weeks camping in Western NY as camp host near Niagara Falls (with my sister)
September: 1 week in Alaska . . . David won a 3 day/2 night fishing trip so we expanded the trip to make it a full week (with David)
October: 15 night transpacific cruise Los Angeles to Tokyo, with 4 days/3 nights afterwards to do some independent touring (solo)

You will forget what your own bed feels like!

February: 4 days NYC with my daughter, 3 Broadway shows
February/March: 3 week with husband, and hopefully both daughters
April: Merritt Island, FL to visit my bff
May: Seattle with daughter to see Florence and the Machine
June: Denver with daughter, she's going to a concert, I'm just going along.

That's all that's planned for now. None of these are timeshare trips.

We are not flying anymore and we don’t like very long drive to’s. Also, we’ve had some stuff going on these past few months. Moh’s surgery on my face. Simple robotic prostectomy for hubby. Now he will be having cataract surgery and follow up CT on his bladder coming up. I need a dermatology recheck. Lots of driving back and forth to the NH Capital city. Not to mention I have ongoing back issues which will never be fixed and a mucus problem docs can’t seem to resolve. Trying to sleep is hell.

Then I am pretty sure I’ll be needing cataract surgery this year and will have to see when that will take place.

Then when you think of it between getting ready for tax season, spring cleaning/ chores, getting exercise in, and some socializing, no time for traveling a lot anyway.

So- bottom line is we are only going to Vermont in June to escape bike week here. Did a booking.com rental at Smuggs in the Owls building. 2 1/2 hours from home. Will visit more towns for the VT 251 club. And then our timeshare at Innseason Pollard Brook in Lincoln in August - less than an hour away.

We will just enjoy our beautiful lakes and mountains, our neighborhood, and local pleasures/events here where we live.

January - Colorado for ski trip
February - Puerto Rico
March - Jackson Hole for ski trip
April - St Thomas/Vincent
June - Asia/Aruba (TBD)
August - Illinois for disc golf tournament and Costa Rica
October - Pompano Beach
December - Colorado for early ski and Orlando for Christmas

That's it for now but will probably squeeze in another trip in the fall.

Well, I have a bunch planned, many scheduled.

Let's see,

January-Feb to FL for 3 weeks including the TUG get together.
End of Feb - a weekend for the Philadelphia Flower Show
Middle May - a week at Jackson Gore Inn
End of May possibly a week at Massanutten if a deal pops up and I can make the schedule work.
June a week at Wyndham Long Wharf
July possibly a 4th of July trip if last call shows up like this year Or other possible July destinations around other scheduled stuff
August - deals if schedules fit - may be nothing.
September - start of a month long mostly beach trip hopefully with my mom going around Florida and HHI.
Nov-Dec not even any preliminary plans quite yet, Wyndham / HGVC don't book that far out.

2026 is my first timeshare year. I’m ringing in the new year in NYC, going to some concerts in April. May and September on the west coast, eating some Poke in Kauai in June and spending time with family in October. All are trips I would do naturally and the timeshares are saving me a considerable amount of money for accommodations so am pretty happy with year one!

Here's what we have planned:

January:
We're headed to Marriott Grande Vista over MLK weekend. We got a 2 bedroom on an AC and will be getting annual passes to Universal Orlando.

February:
The wife and I are going to stay at the Ventana Big Sur. We absolutely love it there. We booked it on credit card points.

March:
We'll be going to Vail for Spring Break. We'll be staying at Streamside.

April:
I don't have anything booked yet, but the kids have a long weekend the end of April. I'm waiting for the right flight prices to get back to Orlando and use that Annual Pass. I may book a getaway or stay at a Marriott on points.

May/June:
I planned a family reunion for my entire family at HGVC Kingsland for the first week of June. We'll be going a day earlier and staying at the Marriott Waikoloa.

We'll then spend a week at the Hyatt Vacation Club in Ka'anapali.

July:
We'll be spending the fourth of July at the Sheraton Steamboat.

August:
I'd like to go the first week of August to Universal right before school starts, but no firm plans.

October:
It's our fall break, we'll spend a few nights in Orlando and do Universal and then head out to either Marco Island (Crystal Shores) or Siesta Key (Hyatt).

November:
We'll spend Thanksgiving in either Avon at the Westin Riverfront or at a timeshare in Orlando to go to Universal.

December:
I've got the Sheraton Kauai booked to spend Christmas and New Years there. Alternatively we may do a week in Orlando, and then a week at the Westin Lagunamar.

We have our year loosely planned out. January we are heading to HHI and then Orlando (also for the TUG meetup). A week in each location. Then we have two weeks in Cancun. Seven at an all-inclusive and seven at the Westin Lagunamar. This will be our first time at a true all-inclusive property for a week. Then in May we have an Alaskan cruise with stops before and after in Salt Lake City and then Colorado. Nothing really planned after that.

I liked your new avatar.

I sort of try and do something most months, though not quite able to commit to trying for one every month - though I do think doing multiple weeks some months makes up for it. For me, I like to minimize travel time if possible and instead bulk stays together if I've driven a couple days or took a plane somewhere.

I've done the once-a-month thing for three years now. Even if it's just a long weekend...I'm still scheduling the time off! LOVE IT.

January: MLK weekend at Samoset for the Ice Bar
February break week: Samoset
March: not sure yet, but will take a weekend somewhere in Maine, likely at a hotel
April break week: Samoset
Memorial Day weekend: waiting for reduced TPU sale :)
Late June: Cold Spring Resort
July: Acadia Village and Stormy Point Resort
August: Attitash Mountain Village
Sept and Oct holiday long weekends TBD:
November at a hotel somewhere. (no long weekends. Sigh.)
December: Attitash Mountain Village

Big 2027 trip will be to Williamsburg....already scheduled to the HIVC resort there, but will look to see if others open up with E-plus. The planning is half the fun!

Congratulations on discovering timesharing . . . and this group. I hope you have a very long and enjoyable timeshare ownership experience!

Sounds fabulous! We used to own a Fairfield/Wyndham fixed week in Williamsburg in May . . . and LOVED IT. Weather was just about perfect and it was before school was out and families vacationed there.

Thanks everyone for sharing! It makes me happy to know so many others are enjoying life and travel! I know timeshare ownership gave me an appreciation for exploring places I otherwise might not have considered. AND I have all of my friends and connections here on TUG thanks to timesharing.

January: MLK weekend at Samoset for the Ice Bar
Ohh, sounds vaguely interesting "Ice Bar".
Late June: Cold Spring Resort
I keep seeing Cold Spring Resort show up in deals I think - not sure if I never looked closer cause it's only 1BR and I need 2BR or what. It keeps ... showing up lol.
August: Attitash Mountain Village
I think this is similar to the Cold Spring one for me - might eventually go.

The planning is half the fun!
100% - the hunt for deals or whatever is half the fun!

The Ice Bar is something you would like if you drink. I do not. :) But I still enjoy looking at the sculptures, and the resort is decorated nicely. It's a lot of fun. This will be the 4th year I've gone, I think. It's only 50 miles from home, so makes a great post-holiday stay. I think my stay will cost me 4 TPUs this year. I watch for the reduced rates and then nab it! The hotel side of the Samoset is WAY more pricey than that! Great indoor pool/hot tub/gym/etc. The Ice Bar is two consecutive weekends in January...MLK weekend and the following one. https://www.opalcollection.com/ice-bars/#samoset

Cold Spring is NOTHING FANCY. They do have a sauna in the clubhouse near the indoor pool/hot tub. It's right off I-93, which makes getting there pretty easy from points south. It is a typical NE resort...lots of space, clean, comfortable, but again...NOT THE MARRIOTT. One of my family's favorite spots, due to the friends we've made over the years and the places we can get to from there. Vacatia is managing it now. Remains to be seen how that will go.

Attitash....there now. Again, I really enjoy it here. Lots of different kinds of units, and many 2 BRs are made from 1BR + studio/hotel, which typically gives us more privacy. Stairs are a given. Close to North Conway, but not right in the middle of it. Two of my kiddos are with me on this trip, and they've said several times that this is one of the best due to the amount of privacy we typically have. Suites at Attitash are the newer units. River Run and Attitash Mountain Village are the older units, but still fine.

New England resorts are usually older and don't typically have a lot of the bells and whistles of the newer places. Still love them, though! Can't beat a 2 hour ride and then "we're here!"

I'm fighting, really hard, to avoid booking more cruises in 2026! My sister just booked 2 in January and 2 in April. I had to tell her . . . NOPE NO CAN DO!
