where is the best place or places to buy a timeshare if i just want to use it for points???????

When a resort makes a deal with RCI to become a "RCI Points" resort, together they descide how many points RCI will give each week and unit size. That can change and does change if the resorts rating (gold crown, silver crown ect) changes. So as far as RCI points is concerned it doesn't matter what the location is.

PS Most people asking questions about RCI points as them on the "Points" board. So I'm moving this question there.

Thank you!!:)

Sorry, Location can matter if you're looking at TS in other countries. South African TS were very big for awhile into RCI points. But I've heard points based overseas, can't be combined with US TS RCI points. (This may or may not be true only just heard this) So location doesn't matter on US and Canadian TS.

For point use, you are looking at low MF and high point. Both can change. Generally, week system with more BD unit has MF relative small per unit. And country with cheap salary will cost less MF. And high demand season will usually have high points (but RCI's world their high seaon maybe very unlike your common logic high season).

But most people will use PFD, so initial entry is not that important.

I will buy places and time I like to visit and go and believe if I want to rent out, it will get enough people to want it. And will assume I forget the whole point idea. It only be ice in the cake at the end of your evaluation of a contract before you make any purchase decision.

Get your RCI Points at the best price you can with the most important cost factors being:

annual MF / annual RCI Points = annual cost per point. (less than 1 cent preferred, but with increasing MF costs they are getting harder to find and more expensive to acquire).

Typically, he lower the (annual cost per point) the more expensive the purchase price, which is the next cost factor:

acquisition cost / annual RCI Points = acquisition cost per point (I consider all one time costs... price, closing, transfer fees, account setup).

Since timeshares vary between Annual usage, Every Odd Year (EOY), Every Even Year (EEY), and every third year (triannial); it's important to annualize the costs before doing the ratios for comparative purposes.

While POINTS are POINTS (meaning they spend the same no matter where you get them from), since future costs in the form of increasing MF's and possible special assessments will influence the most important factor (annual cost per point), it follows that solid proven management should be a consideration when deciding which resort you want to own.

Once you've determined the number of annual RCI Points required for your vacation needs, apply the above and go find your BEST DEAL.

So 1.29 cents per point purchase price yielding 0.8 cents per point annual would be considered a good deal? Those are the numbers on a resale I recently purchased (rounded up of course).

Exceptionally good. Well done.

Location of where the points come from is immaterial & irrelevant & beside the point. Points are points. Just get the best deal you can on the points.

Or, if you'd rather try before you buy, it is possible to get a renewable 3-year lease on a points timeshare. The timeshare points you get that way work exactly the same as the points you get buy buying a points timeshare. Who'd a-thunk?
