I have a confirmed reservation at the Lindo Mar Resort 2 Bedroom Unit 101. Does anyone have any idea as to the location of this room? If it's near the pool, is noise a concern? Does the resort offer any type of transportation from the airport? If so, should I take it? If not, what is the best way to get to the resort?

Any suggestions regarding restaurants, grocery stores, etc...?

Thanks!!!

Yes it is located on the first floor near the small pool and the hot tub.

Noise at night was not a problem late at night when we were there for 10 days last September.

There are only 47 units at this resort and it is not in the hotel zone were there can be a big pool problems caused when the criuse ships come in.

Maybe I can help you a little.Lindo Mar is a 9 story bldg w/all the 2 bedrms on the first 4 floors. As you exit the custom hall,on your left before you leave the terminal bldg, there is a taxi kiosk that you can pay w/us dollars and purchase a tkt to Lindo Mar.Then ask them where to p/u the taxi--cost under$20.Lindo Mar is situated in Conchas Chinas and there are always taxis waiting outside the door and there is also a bus stop right outside to take you to town or you can walk down the hill(20 min) to Basillio Badillo where all the restaurants are. From there you can either walk or take another bus to the malecon waterfront. The front desk people are very helpful w/directions.In the lobby there is a concierge who can give you different restaurant cards and book tours for you as well.I almost forgot to tell you there is a 7-11 type grocery store about 3 min. walk to the left of LM.We usually p/u eggs, bread, bacon, juice and beer as soon as we finish checking-in.Their prices not too bad. There is also a large supermkt in Basillio Badillo for your groceries and a seafood shop there too, also a bbq chicken takeout place that is very good and cost only $7.We usually eat at the restaurant onsite the first and last night---tasty food and again very reasonable w/a lovely oceanview! If you have time,do some exploring around the neighborhood.......If you have more questions, just give me a pm. Bill,

If you are not carrying a lot of luggage it is VERY easy to leave the airport and hop on the bus! As you are exiting the baggage/immigration area you would just continue straight ahead through the set of glass doors and then to your left to the walkway that goes out to the main highway. The bus stop is right at the end of the walkway - there will be others out there waiting for the bus.

All the buses are marked with their destinations... you will be going to "El Centro" or "El Centro via the Tunnel". The cost is .50 cents and they will take your dollar bills.

Usually at the airport stop the bus is not real crowded... many of the bus drivers will help you with your luggage if you are having some trouble but beware as they do not necessarily wait for you to take a seat.

You will ride the bus until you get to the downtown "bus depot" - it is the last stop and isn't really a bus depot at all, just where the buses stop before turning around and heading the other way. You will exit here and either walk two blocks to the Mismayola/Boca bus line or walk a block to Rizos, buy your food and then catch a taxi to the resort (approx $3.50 us). This is only $2.50 extra and you have someone to help with all your things - what a deal! :D

Here is a map:
http://www.vallarta-info.com/south.html

The "bus depot" on the map is not really where the El Centro buses stop... usually they stop for awhile over on Carranza and IL Vallarta. Just tell the bus driver Conchas Chinas and they will tell you where to exit.

The bus stop to head to Mismayola/Boca is on the corner of Basillo Badillo and Constitution... there may be a slight wait for this bus (usually 5-15 minutes until about midnight). The El Centro buses on the other hand run about every 5 minutes and run extended hours.

***If you decide to not do the bus and take a taxi instead... follow the same instructions for leaving the airport and go across the walkway to farside where the taxis are. These taxis do not charge the "airport fee". Taxi fare from the airport to Conchas Chinas has increased in the last couple of years from the usual $15-20 to something closer to $30. As with all cab rides - GET THE COST UPFRONT!

Most cabbies will also include a stop at Walmart/Sams/Gigante/Rizos... but it is also a good idea to negotiate this before getting in the vehicle.

About your room... everyone is different! You are right outside the pool. This may bother some people. But on the other hand - you are right outside the pool! This may be a benefit for others.

It's a great resort - with wonderful staff that has been there for a long time (for the most part). La Palapa (the onsite restaurant) is a hidden gem! You are literally on the water yet the meals are ample and priced relatively low. We generally share a salad (very large) and an order of steak/shrimp fajitas... our bill is right around $20 with 2 drinks each. The drinks are 2/1 during happy hour which is twice daily and they also have a Sunday brunch (or did through last season).

BTW... last season they were doing construction next door - this may be ongoing. This may bother you more than the pool noise so it may be something you would want to check into.

EnJoY!

We have been to Puerto Vallarta many times. One of the most unpleasant
experiences is trying to get out of the PV airport. We have finally decided
the easiest and least uncomfortable way to exit is to use a private shuttle.
It costs $10/person (2 person minimum). You will be able to exit the airport
quickly with a minimum of hassle in a new air-conditioned taxi. Here is the
pointer: http://www.puertovallartatours.net/airport-transfers.htm .

Good idea. We normally have just taken taxi from airport to whatever resort we would be staying at but the pre-pay tour shuttle sounds great. Staying in WIVC - Concho Chinas for 1st time, (2 weeks) starting 22 March. Can't wait. 'GO PACK'

We stayed in the 2 bedroom next to the pool a couple of years ago. At that time, noise from the construction to the left of the complex was a major problem, as they were jack hammering at our level for many hours a day. In the afternoon, if there were really noisy kids at the pool, sitting outside on the living room, or bedroom patio was not very relaxing, and could be a bit wet from the splashing.

But in general, we loved the location of Lindo Mar, the small beach, the beautiful views from the outdoor restaurant right on the water, the staff, the little bus into town, or to Mismaloya. It is a place we would return, but we would hope to be on one of the higher floors next time. I would leave my doors open to the sound of the surf if on the upper floors. You really shouldn't do that on the pool level. But it is a spacious unit, and just steps to the pool or beach.
