Bought a timeshare

In Mexico rescinded contract while there within 5 days and they gave me a receipt for the cancellation however the company extended the rescind period 5 days and gave us a discounted price to “think about” I can not reach them to decline the offer. I got an email from them but when I reply it is returned. I can’t reach them by any of the emails they gave me. I left a message on the number they gave me but haven’t heard back

I have documentation ready to mail to decline the offer. I don’t know the best way to proceed. I have the address but I don’t know how to address a piece of mail to Mexico (so dumb I can’t figure it out) and I think the best way to send is DHL. I have until September 23 to decline or whatever I need to do

I also contacted my bank to rescind within the original 5 day rescission period and they said they cancelled the loan

Please advise!!!
we rescinded next day, two years ago, its very non descriptive office to cancel , we had to meet 3 other sales guys and multiple pitches with "improvements", but they were very polite and "understanding", all in all, took 3 hours to get money back on amex card

Hello,
I've been unfortunate to get talked into a Vidanta/limitless vacation club membership for 2 years. I missed the 5 day window to rescind. To give a timeline: contract was signed 1/4, I called to about a refund on 1/26 and was told no. Tried to dispute with CC company (MasterCard) to no avail. Now it seems I'm stuck with it.

Paid $2680 for this "membership"

How have people used this? They claimed it's not a timeshare but everywhere I look, it's a time share. Would appreciate any input, tips, and advice.

The bad news: You are stuck with it. The good news: Less than $3K is a small mistake as far as these things go.

Now you may as well try to get some use out of it. Here is one place to start, but there might be wothers.

For those who are stuck with their purchase - how have you made use of it? Any details, tips or tricks would be appreciated! I'm stuck with a 2 year "membership".

Book a vacation week at a Vidanta Resort .

Limitless Vacations gives you access for an agreed $ booking cost based on the Unit Size & Brand booked - without the addition of the resort fee that
exchangers from RCI and Intervals pay at check in.

Hi @shiningseason
Welcome to TUG - Timeshare Users Group.

Look at it this way - you bought a 2 year membership in a golf club . Using it is the best way to get value .
Book a vacaton at a Vidanta resort - ( ps - they have great golf courses )

If you do nothing - it expires / like buying a steak and then letting it sit in your fridge until it goes bad and you throw it out.

If you are still in your rescission period and are still at the resort, it would be worth sharing the details with folks who know Vidanta well. It's possible to negotiate with them, and you may be able to get a better deal than you have right now.

If you aren't still in your rescission period, don't sweat it. The resorts are lovely.

As an aside, the hotel discounts probably won't amount to much, but you never know.

@Bwrecks - you should read and review your contract to make sure what the Vida salesperson promised is in the written contract

Vidanta honours what is written in the contract. Questions should be directed to Vidanta Member Services. ( NOT VIDA SALES)
VMS hours are Monday- Friday.

Hi @katia_bythebay
Welcome to TUG- Timeshare Users Group

This thread was started 21 months ago (April 2021) - to help answer questions about Limitless Vacations.
[an access program to Vidanta & other resorts - managed as Limitless Vacations by Arrivia ( formerly ICE / Internatonal Cruise & Expeditions) ]
Note : as of 2022 Arrivia has purchased Redweek - a website that can be used to rent timeshares .

LM is a program that has worked for you (and others) to access Vidanta resorts.

Many of the posters in this thread find TUG while searching the internet for information on how to get out of what they bought.
They generally do not return once they have rescinded their purchase.

It would add to the forum knowledge base if you can add use information.
We bought a Limitless Vacation package June 2022. At first glance looking at the website we thought we were scammed. That said we started looking to use the program it was confusing. We we’re looking for a Hawaii cruise and found a 16 day Princess Cruise on the Limitless website. After going thru the search process we found a price for two seniors, with beverages and WiFi package. The price came in at $3820.34. To verify the discounted price we checked the Princess website for the same cruise date and package was $5950.34. Needles to say we call Limitless Vacations to book with their concierge service. We got the price down to $3400. We put the deposition down at the same time. I verified th booking on the Princess web site and the booking and price was just as quoted. We saved $2550 with limitless vacations on this trip :). Next time you want a great price use the program

Limitless Vacations
I purchased a Limitless Vacations contract on Friday (Oct. 6th) at the Nuevo Vallarta location. I feel I was completely misled on what I was purchasing. Now that I fully understand what I purchased I would like to get out of it. I’m back home now, so I can’t go back to the Contract Services to resolve in person. I’m hoping I can get some advice here on how to proceed.

Rescinding this contract is confusing because they state some things are governed by Arizona Law, and some things are governed by Mexican Law. There are specifically three paragraphs in the enrollment application that talk about the program jurisdiction. Summary of each paragraph is:

  1. “We understand that Limitless Vacations is governed by the Limitless Vacations Terms & Conditions, and I/We have read or agreed to read and be bound by the prevailing Limitless Terms and Conditions….” I’m hoping this the master statement because it seems to make it easy to rescind for a full refund. I’m assuming the Term and Conditions they are referring to are defined here: https://cruiseclub.vacationlimitless.com/terms/terms-and-conditions. In the section “SUBSCRIPTION ENROLLMENT; PAYMENT; AND CANCELLATION”, item F it says I have 10 days to cancel for a full refund, and I can do it by email.
  2. The second paragraph makes be nervous. It says “All matters to the sales and marketing process of the of the Limitless Vacations program made by VRM (Ventas Riviera Maya) or any of their affiliates shall be governed by Mexican Law, shall be resolve exclusively and finally by arbitration in Mexico under the Rules of Arbitration and the Arbitration Center of Mexico (CAM)…” Could this override the terms and conditions?
  3. The third paragraph basically says the fulfillment and administration is governed by Arizona Law so I don’t think this applies to this situation.
Any recommendations on how to proceed? Do I need to be worried about the second paragraph?

Thanks in advance for your help.

If anyone is interested in how I actually got into this mess, the background is outlined below. It was a painful learning experience and hopefully I can get out of it with the only cost being time and feeling like a sucker.
  1. October 3rd I purchased a timeshare with Vidanta. We were in sales meeting for over 6 hours. In the meeting I asked if we could have over night to think about it and they said no. We asked if we could cancel if we signed, they were very surprised by this question, but finally admitted we have 5 days to cancel with a full refund, so we signed.
    • This meeting was just high-pressured sales that we fell victim to. They were overhyping the value of Vidanta and the associated benefits, and we bought into it, but they didn’t outright lie to us.
  2. We rescinded the contract on October 6th. Thanks to this forum we learned to go directly to Member / Contract Services on the first floor of the Grand Bliss. We were given an appointment with the guy that did our contracts. He was very professional and offered us a lower price for the same package, but we declined. This process took just over two hours. One hour waiting for the appointment and just over an hour in the meeting. We left this meeting feeling very good about Vidanta. He then sent us to another building to get our full refund. This is where things get shady.
  3. We were greeted by a woman who said she would process our refund and had us talk to a guy while she was “processing the refund”. He offered us a package for $10,000.00 and said was a rear opportunity since a woman just upgraded to a new contract and they needed to resell her contract before the end of their fiscal year. We said no, we just wanted our refund and be out of there ASAP, we were sick of sitting in sales meetings, so we requested to please check if our refund was processed. He called another guy to go check on it, while we were waiting, he pushed it again. I asked how long the contract is, he said it was forever, no expiration. We said no again and requested to be out of there in 15 minutes. Right then he offered what I thought was the same exact same contract for $6,000.00. He literally offered this within a minute of me asking how long the contract was for. We figured what the hell, we should be able to get value of this so we said if they could get out of there in 15 minutes, we would take the deal. We told him we just wanted to get the hell of there and asked if for the $6000.00 was it the same deal as he outlined and he said yes. He never mentioned to us that we were signing a 5-year contract, not a perpetual contract. At this point were there for about an hour (over 3 hours total for the day so far) and we just wanted to get back to our vacation. We foolishly signed the contract without reading the details. I’m certain he knew we didn’t understand it was a five-year contract. We finally asked the status of our refund, and they hadn't even started it yet! They had to get approval from the finance department before they could start the refund. So they out right lied to us that we waiting for our refund to be processed while they were pressuring us to buy. That took another 20 minutes, so this process took over 3 1/2 hours.

Just an updated on my status. For now I have sent emails with attached signed rescind letters to both Limitless Vacations in Arizona assuming the contract is governed by the Limitless Vacations Terms and Conditions, and to Vidanta Customer service in case it is governed by Mexico law ARTICLE 56 of Ley Federal de Protección al Consumidor.

I CCd consumerinfo@azag.gov for the Limitless Vacations email (Arizona) and extranjeros@profeco.gob.mx for the Vidanta email. I received an acknowledgement email from Vidanta customer service, so I have a record that they received the email.

Limitless vacations state in their T&C that email is sufficient to cancel, and ARTICLE 56 of Ley Federal de Protección al Consumidor. state in person, registered mail "and by other reliable means". So I'm assuming an email that they have acknowledged receiving is considered a "reliable means".

So it looks like I have all my bases covered?

Hello @txmextravel, I did everything by email and they were very responsive. I received a email yesterday saying they will cancel the agreement and provide a full refund as long as I sign an agreement that I don't say / post anything negative about Vidanta moving forward.

Hi @txmextravel - what you bought gives you access to Vidanta as specified in your contract wording.
@gencartmanlee -has given you good information -if you wish to exercise your right to rescind.

However, like a lot of the sales process they wear you down. Why in the hell would anyone stay in a sales meeting form 3-5 hours? Unless you’re chained to the chair and held hostage, walk away.
If they need several hours to explain, sorry lie and confuse you and wear you down, it probably is not going to be to your benefit.

Ask for the contract and tell them you’ll read it tomorrow. This LIE that you must decide TODAY or ELSE… This is their management’s rules for them. THEY put pressure on the Buyer, because most people will not buy if they have time to think.

We must use the same DIRTY TRICK back on them. If they can’t do that, you can’t buy.
If we don’t fight fire with fire, we give them the POWER.

It seems like this “deal” is a prepay of resort fees for a set amount of time.
If you use it, it can be of value. If it is cheap or something you want and you can afford it, buy it.
The issue I have is people buy what they don’t understand, overpay, and then don’t use it.

I overpay for steaks all the time, but I do try to use them!

It's because the buyers were lured in to the presentation with a gift. The buyers came for the gift and don't want to leave without it. So the sales people just hold on to the gift until the buyers are worn down, even if it takes longer than the originally agreed-upon 90 minutes.
