Hello,

Apologies but I couldn't find it in the Stickies- my girlfriend has a 8/29 check-in. What is the latest date she can deposit it in II?

TIA

December 31 of the Use Year. Yes, that means you can actually deposit a week so late in the year that no weeks are even left to deposit. Starwood manages this on the back-end by estimating demand and depositing weeks periodically throughout the year.

What kind of reservation is this? - an SVN reservation cancelled within 60 days of check-in is a restricted reservation and cannot be deposited with II, nor converted to Starpoints, nor rolled over to the next year.

If it is a float week she will need to cancel the reservation and then it can be deposited with II up to December 31 (although I would do it by December 29 to be on the safe side). If it is a fixed week it needs to be deposited 14 days prior and even then at this point it will be a flex only deposit.

It is a Harborside home week reservation. She is trying to rent it out and wants to wait as long as possible before cancelling the reservation.

Based on the replies, she can cancel the reservation within 2 weeks? Then deposit in II before 12/31?

Unless rules have changed, it can be deposited into II. It can't be banked in Starwood. It either has the 60 day reservation restriction or can be deposited into II.

Does the actual confirmation say, "Home Resort Reservation," or "Staroption Reservation"?

It says "Home Resort Reservation". It was booked as soon as the 12 month window was open last year

[Correction (thanks grgs) - it is already within the 60 day restriction window - have her look at the details about canceling at the bottom of the confirmation, and call to confirm with Starwood.]

Good - then it won't be subjected to the II, 60 day restrictions.

Is the cancellation policy different whether it's a Home Resort or SO reservation in terms of depositing in Interval? From MSC:

Reservations Cancellation Policy

Starwood Vacation NetworkSM reservations made during the Home Resort Reservation Period or the SVN Float Period are subject to the following cancellation policy and may be cancelled by calling Owner Services prior to the arrival date of the assigned reservation. Failure to cancel a confirmed reservation prior to the arrival date will prevent the restoration of StarOptions for further use.

Reservations may be cancelled 61 days or greater prior to arrival with no cancellation fee or Usage Restriction.

Reservations made 60 days or less prior to arrival may be cancelled through the following day after making the reservation (before the end of hours of operation, Eastern Time) with no cancellation fee or Usage Restriction. After this grace period passes, however, these cancellations will incur cancellation fees; subsequent usage will be restricted to reservations within 60 days of the new requested arrival date for that Use Year and will not be eligible for StarOptions Banking or Starpoints conversion.

Cancellations fees:

60 days – 8 days: $50 cancellation fee
7 days or less: $75 cancellation fee

Exchanging in Interval isn't mentioned, so I'm not sure about that part.

grgs - I think you are right - I was thinking it only applied to Staroption reservations.

That means the OP's reservation is already restricted - she better call and verify that.

Now that I think about it, I think it applies to SVN reservations vs voluntary reservations.

I have a deposit in II for this reason. It was a total mistake that I missed the 60 days, and was focused on the Staroption banking deadline, which were within days of each other. I didn't do the math on the 60 day cancellation of the reservation. My only option was depositing into II at that point.
