Today, in a converstion with a VG named Cindy, I was told that Last Call was going to just 15 days out. I asked her to repeat herself. She said 15 days.

Please tell me she is dead wrong. Has anyone else heard this?

I haven't heard this, but what I have seen seems to corroborate it--for almost two weeks now, Last Call has not shown anything beyond April 8 or 9. Even though there is a drop-down for May, I have either gotten an "invalid date" message or "no availability" message.

Making Last Call 15 days out will surely destroy the program for me, since it's almost impossible to get decent airfare on such short notice.

Edited to add: Today I noticed that the drop-down selection of locations has increased tremendously, and the "featured destinations" choice has been elminated. There's still nothing available past 4/8 or 4/9 though. It just takes a way lot longer to go through it all to see nothing.

I noticed it too.

I would much rather be able to see the featured destinations - it can always be sorted by location and it's much easier and faster to get through than trying to look at each destination. Why did they mess with it?

Well, I guess they are sending all the rest to rentals to the general public...

Fall-Out From 2-Week Last Call

If fewer weeks are available via Last Call, won't that potentially increase the weeks available via Instant Exchange & Extra Vacations & bonus weeks & straight rentals?

My bet is on the pure rentals. This is clearly the direction that Rental Condominiums International is heading...

And a lot of the locations have nothing at all available  How tedious.

The Extra Vacations have gone way up in price, at least to anyplace that I would want to visit. That makes both Last Call and E.V. unattractive to me, and they were the best reasons for me to remain a member.

They can do whatever they want with deposited weeks and I can do what I want with my membership, including drop it.

Yeah, I thought they were good programs, but their constant price increases are enuf of a pisser to never rent from them. Then the online vs call-in price being different, then having to pay tax on top of it all... nope, I don't think so. good ole DAE is $99 yesterday, today and tomorrow.

The last Call program was the only reason that we have been keeping RCI. As we don't plan on depositing anything with RCI, it is looking like it is about time for us to drop RCI.

Last Call is a relatively new program. RCI is still playing with it. They're in business to make money, not for our vacationing pleasure. I think they'll continue to make changes to Extra Vacations and Last Call until they find the price and the timeframe that will allow them to make the most money from renting "extra inventory" They'll continue to raise prices until they reach a level where the weeks don't sell well enough to make the most profit. They'll continue to rent weeks as long as there are willing buyers and as long as members keep making deposits.
Just say "NO'! :p
