Not only the last call fees increased now RCI are also charging additional room taxes. The maintenances fees were paid including the taxes by the timeshare owners that traded these timeshare weeks to RCI. What is the deal?? RCI is getting to be a rip-off and I am considering giving it up. Their fees are ridiculous. Cruises and the Partners via trading points or weeks in exchange is more than going to a travel company.
Don't blame RCI for this one, blame the Federal, State, County or City Government for this. They all have their hands in your pocket and they often get it double too because someone already paid it once.
It will only get worse! If one starts, the other ones will follow.
It is any last call you book. It used to be the amount and that was that. But now it is the $179. for 1 week plus added taxes which is a Rip off from RCI. Those timeshares have gotten their tax and maintenances fees from the owners that exchanged. If I exchange one week with RCI they have nothing to do with my maintenances fees. I pay the resort . It is a RCI rip-off and their fees are going up all the time and the yearly fees too.
There are counties/cities that charge additional TOT taxes (ARDA's been fighting this for years) in addition to the property taxes paid by timeshare owners. There are a few resorts in our system that I have to pay a tax on when I stay there (actually when the reservation is made)...despite the fact that we are owners. The amount varies...and it's not pleasant...but I understand that it's beyond my control and have my fingers crossed that someday ARDA may make a dent in the situation.
So...while I was surprised at the jump in last call fees...the taxes themselves arent surprising to me....just that they're being universally applied to all resorts...since many areas dont charge a TOT.
