Can anyone recommend a tasteful place to have a wedding in or near the Las Vegas area? By tasteful, I am excluding anything on the strip. I realize there are some beautifully appointed "chapels" in some of the casinos but one must still walk through the smoke, noise and hustle of the game floor to access them. Not a way to set the mood, imo. I am interested in something quiet, clean (no smoke) and elegant--though not necessarily extravagant. A garden setting would be nice but I'm not sure what the weather would be like at any given time and therefore an outdoor venue must have an equally suitable indoor area should it rain. Thank you for your help.

Probably not what you want but FYI Caesar's Palace has an outdoor wedding chapel adjoining the main pool deck area that is actually very nice, we attended a wedding there a couple years ago.

I was going to suggest Little Church of the West, too. It *is* almost on "The Strip," just south of Mandalay Bay on the other side of the street. But it is free standing, and has a small garden area you can use for the ceremony as well as a chapel (which seats 50). I think its tasteful; we renewed our wedding vows there in 2002!

You can see pictures of the chapel at the link above, and also find a price list for their services, which are reasonable.

If it is a marriage, and not a renewal of vows, you have to have a Clark County Marriage License. This web page explains where to get it. You cna fill out the application beforehand and bring it with you. I am not sure, but they may only take cash for the fee ($55.) You'll find many "hawkers" there who want to hand you fliers (or even take you) for various places close by which have bargain basement prices. I can't recommend any of them, cause I'm not familiar with them.

If all you want to do is get married, and there are no friends or relatives attending (or only witnesses), you might even consider being married by one of Las Vegas' Marriage Commissioners. We have some friends who did that, and it was inexpensive, quick, and tasteful. The commissioner even allowed them time to take pictures of their hands with the rings on together on the pillow after the ceremony. This office is right around the corner from the license office.

I got married at the Little Church of the West in 2004 and it was just what we were looking for. It was nice, tasteful and cheap. They even ring the chapel bells for you as you leave. The photos of the wedding were well done, but the sound on the DVD was not very good. There is also some traffic noise when you go outside of the chapel.

The Hyatt Regency at Lake Las vegas can help you with a beautiful wedding on the lake. I don't remember what type of boat they use, but I remember it was VERY nice. You may want to look up their web-site for more info...

Another place that looks interesting is The Grove. No personal experience with it, but it just looks cool.

My daughter got married in the Little Church of the West. It was nice. There was a little garden gazebo type area that was a good picture spot. The video they give you is terrible, so bring your own.

They stayed the rest of the week at the condo, Club de Solei and we went home to Salt Lake and got ready for the open house the next weekend.

My daughter was really happy with it. I was too, alot less hasstle and cheaper than the other kids.

You can get married at many hotels without entering the casino.

You'd be missing out on some of the most beautiful settings..
Bellagio and Venetian come to mind.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. The couple has settled on The Grove. The bride-to-be is flying in this month to check it out--they have already put down a non-refundable deposit before seeing it so I hope it works out.

I'll let you know how it all works out. The wedding is scheduled for next November.

It looks beautiful...however, they understand that it's way out from town, right? It could take an hour or more for some of their guests to get there, depending on traffic conditions.

Thanks for the heads up, Fern. We will pass the word along and plan accordingly.

The wedding was lovely as was the garden setting. The food was very good as well. The only thing negative was we felt a little rushed. As we were eating we could see at least two more wedding ceremonies starting. You only get to use the facilities for so long and then --- out you go. It was nice to get away from the smoke and smog of Las Vegas, though.
