The problem (maybe more cause) of low prices on foreclosed homes is that there aren't typically the jobs available to support living there. If you want to retire, it can be great. You get a nice house at a great prices, and to a degree, the job market doesn't affect you at all.
If you can find a job there, that might have some stability, you can probably make a good go at it. But if you're in say construction, I'm not sure I'd want to try it there.
