Any floor or room recommendations for a 1 bedroom at the MVC Grand Chateau in Las Vegas? 1st time going to this location, normally stay at a casino hotel so this will be interesting. Do all rooms have strip views? Any recommendations while at Grand Chateau? How close to the strip are we? What casino is closest? Do they offer shuttle service to casinos?

We have been there many times its one block off the strip easy walking distance, some rooms have strip views ask when making reservation. Nice lobby bar and small roof top bar.

You will enjoy the place.

Have fun!

What casino is closest?
Just across the street to the north is Planet Hollywood which you can easily reach walking through the Miracle Mile shopping if you don't want to walk up the Strip. You can easily walk to the Cosmopolitan, Bellagio, Paris, Bally's and beyond.

If you want to go the other way (south) you'll be close to the Park MGM (formerly Monte Carlo); MGM Grand; and New York New York

No, all rooms do NOT have strip views. Request a strip view if that is what you'd like. Also, we think that high floors have better views. Elevator banks are in the central core.

Hopefully you have a unit code on your confirmation. If you do, compare to the attached list of unit codes. Then you can look at the resort map and see where that type of unit is located. (It's a very old map that I picked up before Tower 3 was built. We prefer Towers 1 and 2. The final, fourth tower was never constructed.)

Thanks for the floor display.

Sure wish they had put in the resort pool they originally planned. The rooftop pools are far too small and worthless IMHO. We own here and would go more if it had a real pool. Trades well though in II.

They have put in the pool originally planned. It went in when the third tower was built. However, it’s still rather small and unimpressive by timeshare standards.

I haven’t actually stayed at MGC in some time. In 2017 we were staying at HGVC Elara and had extra MVC points that needed to be used. I booked a studio unit for one night so I could tour the resort and take pictures of the new amenities added when tower three was completed.

As for views, we’ve only ever been booked into rooms with a view of the strip. The studio unit I had was in tower 3 and the view was more towards the airport than the strip. It was on the SE facing side if memory serves me correctly.

This is a link to the complete photo album from that 2017 night.

The 1st time I went there, I had a 3BR on a high floor at the end of Tower 1 and had an EXCELLENT view of the strip. The 2nd time there we had a 2BR. I think they assigned us a room on a middle to upper floor in Tower 3 but I asked for a view of the strip when we checked in, and we were put into a lower floor (4th or 5th maybe) in Tower 2, and it wasn't the view I was expecting. (Not horrible, but not really good, either.)

They now have 2 pools. The newer one is bigger; or maybe it just has a much larger pool deck. We enjoyed both trips - we aren't big on gambling and mostly walked around, checking out the hotels on the strip, and went to shows. Are the Vegas shows back yet? If so our favorite was the Cirque de Soleil Beatles LOVE show. Regardless, you are within walking distance (unless you are physically impaired) to almost all of the major casinos/hotels. If the ones you want to visit are too far for you, you can always take a cab (UBER?). We only took a cab once, to Fremont Street to check out "old Vegas", which I recommend because of the lights. My son and daughter-in-law took a cab to/from the Venetian for dinner reservations, but I think it was mostly because she was wearing heels. It's a bit of a walk but definitely doable.

We liked Grand Chateau and would stay there again. We had an 18th floor 2bdrm which overlooked the strip. Lower floors would probably be blocked by Polo Towers and other buildings. The lower pool was closed for refurbishment when we visited over spring break a few years ago. Consequently the rooftop pool didn't have sufficient seating and was crowded so didn't get to use the pools. Hopefully lower pool will be open next time we visit.

I may be wrong but wasn’t this resort originally scheduled to have a lazy river. It has been about 10 years since I stayed at GC and only a rooftop pool was available.

I am a happy owner but trade through II we prefer a different location each year. Going to 1 resort year after year is just not our thing.

We were there in Feb for 10 nights and very much enjoyed it. Definitely put in a request for a strip view if that's important. As for transportation, we used a number of options but assuming you're familiar with the options, I'd walk to as far as MGM or Park MGM South or Pari North but likely take Lyft/Uber beyond that or if raining. All of the hotels where we had any experience had a designated spot for Ride Share pickup including GC. We also used the city bus a fair amount. The only shuttle they had was for Walmart and it had to be scheduled, not sure what they're doing now though. They did have a couple of tours that were free where they used their buses including shopping and downtown which you could take one way, I'd all to see if they're going them now. We took the one downtown then came back on our own.

Just arrived yesterday. Our room is excellent. We have a view of the airport planes landing and taking off. The casinos and shopping are open. Most restaurants are open but the buffets are closed. We have arranged for tours of the Grand Canyon and Red Rock Canyon.

There was never a lazy river planned for this resort. The resort footprint is WAY to small. There was suppose to be a 4th tower, completing the X shape, but nothing was planned for that deck in the original plans. Salesmen do occasionally make stuff up if they think it will close a sale. There use to be a model mock up of the finished plans in the lobby.

We use to go to Vegas every year and we use to own at MGC, 2 weeks at Polo Towers and HGVC at the north end of the strip. Vegas has changed as well as our travel needs/desires. While we use to spend 21 to 28 nights per year in Vegas, the last time we spent a full week in Vegas was 2008, which was the last time we spent a full week at MGC. The 2017 album was me using up a few “spare” DC points that would expire otherwise. Plus, I really wanted to see the new lobby, lobby bar, Marketplace and pool deck.

Were these pictures taken early this morning or is it really that deserted there?

We love GC and Vegas but wi t get back there until next t year sometime.

#JanT

the pictures were taken about 08:00am. It gets much busier later in the day. We had dinner last night in the lobby bar. It was very good. I had a burger and my wife had the grilled salmon. Most shows are set to reopen on Nov 6. 2020.

I understand that an II confirmation with a code ZZAO indicates a Grand Chateau 3 bedroom unit. But does anyone know the difference between codes DZZAO and HZZAO? What do the D and H before the ZZAO stand for?

Do the D or H indicate the tower the unit is located in? Or maybe they have something to do with whether or not a unit is part of a bulk deposit?

The H has been known as a developer deposit, D may as well.

From this thread which can be found in the Weeks FAQ Sticky....

What do the D and/or H mean at the beginning of Marriott II Unit Codes that have five characters?
The best we have been able to determine is the following; D indicates that the inventory came from a Marriott DC points bulk bank and H indicates the inventory came from a weeks Marriott based bulk bank. Four character Marriott II Unit Codes indicate the inventory came from an owner deposit.

Masks are required everywhere. Restaurants can now serve tables of six instead of four.

Have any of the shows re-opened yet?

Have any of the shows re-opened yet?
None of the big name shows have opened yet, but some plan to soon. David Copperfield has some shows scheduled in March. Check this website for info: https://www.vegas.com/shows/

My husband and I celebrated his birthday at The Mayfair Supper Club inside the Bellagio. They have live entertainment each night and it was excellent. The restaurant is situated right behind the Bellagio fountains so you have a view through the fountains to the Paris Eiffel Tower. When the weather warms up they offer outdoor dining, too. (It's kind of spendy but we were celebrating my husband's birthday and our kids had contributed a big gift card!) https://themayfairlv.com

Another favorite restaurant of ours that offers live entertainment is the Bootleggers Bistro. It's close to several timeshares along Las Vegas Blvd. S. https://bootleggerlasvegas.com
