My wife and I are looking for a car rental agencey that might be away from the airport so we can save a few dollars on taxes. Does anyone know of any agencies in the area

I've used Priceline, but that gave us airport rental locations. However we got the car for a very low price.

I believe with Priceline you can opt for rental car agencies that are not at the airport. I have had the best luck with Priceline, I have never paid over $16.00 per day for a full size rental although I always pick-up at the airport.

We used Fox last time. They aren't at the transportation center, but you take the bus to the transportation center, then grab a shuttle to the location. We found it very inconvenient, and it only saved a couple of dollars.

I've gone to Vegas many times over the years and always rented a car. I have found that the non-airport locations typically charge higher rates for the cars than at the airport, offsetting the tax advantage. It probably isn't worth it. Just keep checking rates and look for discount codes. If you are a AAA member, try their site for a good discount on Hertz.

Just got back from Las Vegas and paid $18.95 per day for a full size car (Toyota Camry) with airport pickup. Deal was through Hotwire and Hertz. Had to pre-pay. Also took the pre-paid fuel option for $56. It looked to me that this is about the going rate when comparing it to other offers. Anything less should be considered a deal.

Do car rental companies in LV allow their cars to be taken into Utah and Arizona?

Yes. I rented a car in Las Vegas, drove in into Utah and dropped it off there.

Last September we flew into Las Vegas, rented a car, then spent the week touring Utah and Arizona National Parks. We put 1500 miles on the car in that week. Thank goodness for free miles!

So yes, they definitely allow you to take the car out of state. We used Alamo via Costco.com. Got a great car at a great rate.
