We have a Toshiba laptop and today while the DW was using it she heard a pop and now it doesn't think it is plugged in. Even when plugged in the little icon in the toolbar thinks it is unplugged. My guess is that it is the power supply. We really have no way to test it. We have another laptop but the power supply won't fit it.

Anything wrong with the universal power supplies to buy as a replacement? They are about half the price compared to the Toshiba supply. Heck, for the price I could spend a couple hundred more and get a brand new laptop.

Nothing wrong with the aftermarket ones at all. We use one (Fellows? Kensington? Whatever. We got it at Best Buy when the oem power cord got left home) when we travel and switch between DWs and my laptops- both Toshibas. The power supply came with multiple tips to fit most brands. Seems to run cooler than the oem.

I've used them many times. IMO the Kensington is better than the HP OEM.
