We are heading for Tahoe in October. This being our first trip there we would like to take a trip on the Paddle Boat I am reading so much about. Could someone please tell me the correct name of the boat and possibly a web page where I can make reservations on line. We are five adults and would love to hear also of anything exciting we could do. We will be staying at the Club Tahoe. Thanks

The boat is called the Dixie Queen!
We go every year and love it! They have two boats but we have only taken the early dinner cruise out of Zephyr Cove. It takes you out for about two hours to Emerald Bay and nice dinner and drinks.

Can not believe I have read some post whining about the charge which runs around $45-50.00 a person and you can have your resort book-it and get you discounts when its not a holiday cruise! :wall:

They do have lunch cruise and party cruise later with live music if thats your thing!

People post about the food and I can tell you we have taken about ten cruises over the years and not had a bad dinner!

Go to Tripadvisor and look at Lake Tahoe Forum and you will read alot about the area! Have Fun!

We did the Tahoe Queen a few years ago. We did the dinner cruise with a lot of other family members. We all loved it. Well worth the money.

Oh thanks everyone! We are definately going to schedule the boat ride but I'm not sure which boat or time to choose.

The situation is that we will be with our 3 adult children - ages 43,44,45. And we are in our mid-60's. I would love to do the dinner cruise with live music, but the kids are not bringing their spouses and I don't want to do something romantic and make them feel bad. This trip is a very special family thing for us because my husband and I just retired and they are celebrating with us. Any help would be appreciated. :whoopie:

Tony ~ I did get your pm and answered you. Thanks!

The M. S. Dixie sails out of Zephyr Cove whereas the Tahoe Queen sails from Ski Run Marina. They both go to Emerald Bay and back. The M. S. Dixie takes a little longer as it is a little farther trip. The main difference in dinner cruises is that the Tahoe Queen is buffet style whereas the M.S. Dixie is regular sit down waiter service.

Thanks! That is really helpful information. I like the sound of the M.S. Dixie and the sit down dinner. Is this the trip that they have live music?

Depending on where your staying in Lake Tahoe might make your choice easier!

If your near Ski Run then walking over to the Tahoe Queen would make more since! Like another poster stated they were issued a dinner on the Dixie for going to a tour. I know Marroitt will give you a dinner trip and even has the bus pick you up out front!

The early dinner cruise out of Zephyr Cove doesn't have live music and this might be a better cruise to take your family and then you and your wife might want to take the late dinner/dancing cruise by yourselves!

Sad that your boys didn't bring their ladies so this might be the smarter move for you and your special lady!:cheer:

There also is small boat dinner crusies but we have never taken one!

I like the day cruises much better, because you can stay out on deck and actually see things. When the sun goes down on the night cruise, you can't see anything, and the food is very ordinary. I think it's a better deal to schedule the cheaper and warmer afternoon sightseeing trip, and then have a nice dinner back on shore. I like the trip to Emerald Bay the best.

Denise

Thank you, I've checked with other family members and we all agree that the day trip on the M.S. Dixie with lunch is the one for us. Also, I have printed out your web page on your trip and suggestions of things to do in Tahoe. It is very helpful. Many thanks. ;)
