Going to Lagunamar next week for 11 night stay. :D For the life of me, I can't remember if there is hard wired DSL line in the villas. I know there is wireless that worked great last year, but is there a DSL port?

Also, do they still give you a bottle of laundry detergent to use in the villa? Last time it was left right on the washer.

Lastly, heard that the sea grass washing up is pretty bad this year. Anybody there recently that can update on this?

We didn't have any sea grass in Feb. but it may be a seasonal thing.

They left laundry detergent, but we always carry a few extra tide pods with us. Also refilled at the mid week tidy. They only thing they did not refill was coffee. They gave us more detergent and dishwasher detergent.

Have a great time!

We were at the new phase last year and none of the hardwire worked and we were informed by front deak it was a known issue and they were NOT working on fixing them.

Our room had a working CAT5 port when we visited in May.

The sea grass was fairly thick in places along the beach, but the Westin has a "beach Zamboni" that we saw every few days to clean up the beach. As you walk along the beach, you can quickly tell which areas had not been cleaned up.

Just heard back from the concierge that most villas do not have a working DSL line. So, I guess wireless will have to do.

Also, reports on Trip advisor are saying that the sea grass is clearing up some. We had some last year in September, so as long as it is not any worse than then, we will be good.

Any other suggestions are welcome. We plan on going to Isla Mujeres one day and husband wants to go to Ek Balam on another (he went to Chitzen Itza (sp?) last year. We went to Xel Ha last year and are considering going again as it was fabulous.

I would also suggest Tulum. You can catch the ADO Bus in downtown Cancun. You can get there and back for about $20pp on the bus. A pretty easy trip.

How long is the trip to Tulum?

I think it was about 90 minutes. Much cheaper than booking an excursion through a tour company.

My daughter just got back from there. One day without the seaweed, but it was there every other day. Not too horrible though. For a quick trip, they did they Jungle Tour on the small two seater boats and said it was incredible. They were the only ones on the tour, so the guide took them out a little farther and they got to see some of the underwater statues. Along with a ton of fish, some barracudas and a giant manta ray.

I saw a Facebook post on the Royal Resorts page today that the beaches were clear of Sea Grass. They posted pictures. It was bad on the Florida panhandle this summer also.

Got here yesterday and the sea grass is gone. Just a little floating up in the water.

For those who don't own at Westin Lagunamar, how far out would we need to put an ongoing request in hopes of trading into this resort? I own at SDO

I own here but didn't book until about 4 months ago. Plenty of availability then. Of course this is technically off season, but you wouldn't know it by the lines at check-in the last 3 days.
