Hi everyone,

I just recently bought a silver season KVR premium unit and was wondering if I could exchange for another season in the same resort occasionally?

What is KVR? Kierland? - then that would be WKV (Westin Kierland Villas).

SVN exchanges are performed using StarOptions (SO) - so you can IF you have adequate SOs.

At 8-months you can use SVN (which you pay for) to exchange into WKV or other SVN resorts. An issue may be that you will have left over SOs that will need to be used for nightly stays (at the 90 day window).

How many SOs did you get with your silver WKV?

There is a Staroption chart posted in Owner Resources at the top of the page that you can download. Note that you will not have enough Staroptions to exchange into a higher season - because higher season weeks have more Staroptions and require more Staroptions for an exchange.

For lots of info. about how Starwood works, see the FAQ at the top of the board.

Silver season gets 30,500 StarOptions for a 1 bdrm Premium. I'm afraid that's not going to get you very far in SVN.

Nightly StarOption requirements for a 1 bdrm in gold season:
M,T,W 4,400
Fr,Sa 8,800
Th, Su 6,600

Nightly StarOptions for a 1 bdrm premium in platinum season
M,T,W 8,100
Fr,Sa 16,200
Th, Sun 12,150

So you could do a max of 5 nights during gold season and 3 nights during platinum season, but the crappy part is that you'd have to wait til 90 days out to reserve since it's less than a week.

thanks guys, thats great info. I guess I would have to settle for 5 days of gold season through SVN but I was also wondering if I could exchange through II into the gold or platinum season of the same resort. Would that be allowed???

Note that a 5 day exchange cannot be requested until 90 days out and by that point it may not be available, so plan accordingly.

You can - in that case you would be exchanging a week for a week, Staroptions do not come into play. Starwood has a 3 day Priority for other Starwood resorts in II, so that might work better for you and can be requested much farther out. You would want to get your week deposited and an ongoing request made a year out, if possible.

For lots of info. about how Starwood and II work, see the article in Owner Resources under Exchanging.

Thanks again. Sounds like the II exchange option may work best for me. What is a fair resale purchase price for a premium unit silver week? Does anyone know what the developer is selling silver and gold weeks for?

WKV is sold out, so no developer sales going on.

To see 2008 resale week prices, check the ebay sales data base in Owner Resources, although there haven't been a lot of updates to it lately. Expect prices to be lower this year.

You can do your own research on ebay using these links:
