The annual Ku Mai Ka Hula competition, celebrating its 13th year, will be held Sept. 7-8 in the Castle Theater at Maui Arts and Cultural Center.

The event features both solo and team hula dancers from Hawaii, the U.S. mainland and Japan. Male and female halau invited to compete at Ku Mai Ka Hula perform in kahiko (traditional) and auana (modern) hula styles.

Ku Mai ka Hula also also features an artisan market with made-in-Hawaii products in addition to food and beverages vendors.

Solo competitions are held Sept. 7 starting at 6 p.m., and group competitions are September 8 at 1 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony. Tickets cost $25 adults, $17.50 children under 12.
