Quite a few distillers are pitching in and making hand sanitizer.

If you're a distiller of alcoholic drink (rum, vodka, etc.) you are already producing the type of alcohol that's needed to make hand sanitizer. Several of the distiller in the Western New York area have added hand sanitizer, reducing the amount of their main product that's produced, to fill the gap. Their sales had already dipped due to bars & restaurants being closed to take out only. It seems, on the surface, the distillers are "being good citizens" (and they are) to provide something that was needed and in short supply. But the underlying reason is they needed the sales and hand sanitizer became the new product they needed.

Just 2 months ago, when they were still making rum, we took the Rum Safari. This was the first rum stop. I don't recall seeing any hand sanitizer at either of the rum stops.

So that explain why some people are purchasing Koloa Rum sanitizer. Must be some cheap kick or a cheap high at 70% alcohol. LOL

Our local whiskey distillery Blinking Owl is making it, sold out quick!

We have small restaurant brewers doing the same.

Dh just picked up a few bottles of hand sanitizer at one of our local distilleries. 80% alcohol

I wonder if distilleries will continue to make and sell sanitizer after this is over? When we visit Kauai, we usually bring home a bottle or two of Koloa Rum. I'd be happy to buy their hand sanitizer, too. I like supporting local businesses when I can.
