Kobo eReader Review

I preordered the Kobo from Borders and received it on the 17th of this month. I ran into a problem downloading a book from the library and the customer service people for Kobo weren't much help. Combine that with the fact that Borders still hasn't launched their ebook website and I lost confidence in them. I will be returning the reader tomorrow and am looking to by a Sony reader.
 
It's your money to spend as you wish. But there are monthly, if not weekly discounts on these things. Not to mention that the marketplace will soon be flooded with refurbs that people are returning. The e-reader looks destined to follow the 'give 'em a razor and sell 'em the blades' business model.

Thanks. I was thinking Kobo until I read about BLIO from Kurzweil. Nook just came down in price. I used a Nook at Barnes and Noble (they have a few for demonstration) and couldn't stand the refresh rate. It really bothered me. This e-reader thing is pretty much a question of personal preference but I want something that will produce pages that look like pages in a book or magazine - not an e-document look. Right now I am hoping that Kurzweil and BLIO come through.
 
The primary factor driving my eReader decision is the ability to download DRM protected books from the local online library. The Sony and Nook can and the Kobo is supposed to but would not for me.

With the recent price drop of the Nook and Kindle I think I'll wait on the Sony purchase for a little while to see if they follow suit.

BLIO is also supposed to be able to download from libraries. The software is free. When it comes out I will download on my PC's and see if I like it. Very little risk that way. In my view a cheap netbook would serve the same purpose as an e-reader (something light for travelling) and provide some other options. I am in no rush. As with all things computer, everything gets cheaper quickly.
