Ko Olina Parking

I am sure this has been asked and I did a search but didn't find anything, but how does parking work for marriott vacation club owners at Ko Olina. I was shocked to read on my confirmation that parking is $40 plus per day? That changes my whole plan of renting a car if this is the case. Or is this a generic confirmation and owners get to park for free - I saw one post that seemed to indicate this. We are in a 2 bedroom and will have one vehicle. We used our Destination Club Points to book. Thanks!
 
It will be free for you. Car definitely recommended for this location.

Thank you - big relief. That is what I thought and that is why I decided to rent a car, but their welcome letter that was e-mailed listed the fee. One would think they would send a slightly different letter to someone that booked with Destination Club Points or their owner's week, so as not to be confusing. But then again, maybe they hope people won't park with them.
 
Do you need to be an owner there or MVC owner in general to get free parking?

You need to be staying on a timeshare based reservation (home resort, club points, ii exchange or getaway). Cash and Bonvoy based bookings pay parking charges. Timeshare stays do not. It doesn't matter your ownership status. Encore Packages also pay for parking (or so I understand).
 
Hey..it's been awhile since I've exchanged into Ko Olina but hit one this morning-- 1 car is still included correct for timeshare exchanges?
 
One vehicle for self parking free. Valet there is a charge.

I can confirm that encore and timeshare presentation packages don’t get free parking at Ki Olina or Maui Ocean Club

That is generally the case at all MVC locations that charge for parking.

A work around for anyone coming on an encore package for current owners is to make a back to back reservation and parking will be waived for the encore portion.

I believe that the room type and size has to be the same as you've booked with the Encore to ensure they can combine the reservations?
 
I called the encore line today asking about the work around to get the "free parking." They told me the fee would not be waived if I had a back to back reservation. I have heard about the work around, but what is the source for confirmation?

I don't think there is a source, rather just real world experience which is better than an answer from a person. We try not to point these things out too much to the staff because they usually go away when they learn of the loopholes. As with everything YMMV.

I have done this many times. Years ago that "workaround" used to usually work, but in the past few years, I have been charged parking for the duration of the Encore stay even if it was combined with an ownership stay.
