I have been asking a lot of questions recently since DH and I are really close to deciding on whether or not we want to purchase a Ko Olina week. We are thinking yes, but would like to know what are our chances of booking something there in late April/early May or in late August/early September if we purchase in the next couple weeks. We would prefer the former. Any Ko Olina owners with any input? Thank you!

We don't own at Ko Olina, but I have suggestion. When we recently bought a resale in Starwood's program, the owner made a reservation for us in Maui for late April (which was at the 8 month mark), and it transferred to us with the sale. Perhaps you could do the same thing. Good luck. Ko Olina is a beautiful property.

I booked my week a few days ago so I can no longer check availability online. Being this late in the year, most owners have probably booked their weeks so it might be difficult to get an exact answer.

However, if memory serves I think most of the summer weeks were booked up (both lockoff and non-lockoff). Your August / Sepetmber dates probably have availability though.

Hopefully you can find somebody on the board that hasn't booked already, but if not that's the best I can do for you.

-Bill

PS - We *love* the property. Congratulations in advance if you end up buying, it's a beautiful place to go every other year and a good deal right now via resale.

If you're buying an even year, chances are that the owner already booked a week. If they can't change the week to something that works for you, you could deposit it in II and try for a retrade. As an owner you'd have priority. At this late time it would be easier to get a studio and try and use the 1 bed for next year. Of course you never know, you might get lucky.
