We have 1 teenager and 3 small kids. Could the 6 of us fit into a KO 1br? Seems like plenty of room on the floor plan. Any thoughts?

Not enough beds unless you can take 1-2 small kids in your bed or your teenager can bunk up with all three small kids.

There is a small area off the master (sort of a sun room) with a small day bed, it would probably work for a small child. You could also ask for a roll-a-way and place it in that area, we have done this in the past.

I beleive the maximum occpuancy for a 1BR at ko Olina is 4. There are only 2 beds. the 2BR shows max of 8 becuase the lock off has a King bed and a sofa bed giving a total of 4 beds.

We had five in a 1br at KBC which is a much smaller unit. We brought an inflatable bed and asked for a rollaway.

I didn't find the staff particularly accommodating when I stayed at Ko'Olina, so I would personally be hesitant to go two over the max occupancy.

The Max. listed capacity is 4 and if you tell them you have 6, or take 6 to check-in, they may not allow you to check-in.

Would be tight

In any case, it would be tight. One bathroom and 3 small kids that more than likely have a lot of energy would be a tight fit even with the nice size of the accommodations. I doubt it would be as pleasurable a vacation as you might like.

Just leave the kids at home and it will be fine!

Go with a 2br. 6 in a 1br would be fine for one night but not for a week. I'm sure both you and your teenager would like some privacy.

I believe that the day beds have been replaced in all buildings with a desk as part of renovations. The daybed was gone from our unit last time we were there.

Good. Couldn't figure out what to do in that little room with that lounge-thing anyway. Nobody came in to feed me grapes while I was lounging there, so I say out with it.

And it's funny, because I loved it. It was nice sitting and reading there in the early morning with the sun basking in, and I could see that it would be great for people traveling with little ones.

I'm sorry they did away with it in all the villas.

I'll miss it

Not that a desk isn't a good thing, but my daughter used to sleep on that couch/loveseat. It was a nice place to relax and read books to her. Also once it rained all afternoon and we just sat there looking at the rain and the ocean.....

Anyhow, it doesn't matter, when we were there in Sept, the desk was there and it was useful too.

I would NOT try putting 6 people in a 1BR, it really just wouldn't work well (unless you plan on sleeping in shifts).

There you go. I am now the only guy who didn't like that little room setup, thinks the "Marriott Bed" stinks (way too hot), and has zero use for the in-room hot tubs.

I'm not a guy, but I agree with you on all counts. The little room wasn't a bad idea, just poorly executed, IMO.
