What is everyones' understanding of the differences between TS kitchens vs kitchenettes?

For me, it's usually whether there is an oven. A kitchenette has a cooktop of some sort, (might be a two burner thing), where a kitchen has a regular stove with an oven. Both usually have a fridge (of some size or another), a microwave, and a dishwasher.

Marriott kitchenettes are simply a small refrigerator and a microwave. Also some small appliances such as a toaster and coffee pot. You won't very often find a dishwasher or stovetop in a Marriott studio. There are some Marriott and Vistana kitchens that don't have ovens but they are still considered full kitchens.

DVC Studio kitchenettes don’t have a cooktop or oven, just a dorm-size fridge (no freezer), microwave, toaster and coffeepot. For comparison, regular Disney hotel rooms (all grades, value, moderate and deluxe) have a fridge (no freezer) and coffeepot.

I addition to what the others have posted, a kitchen usually is it's own room, while a kitchenette is often a corner of the main the room.

Fwiw, this criterion also seems to be what RCI and II both use to distinguish a "full" from a "partial" kitchen (kitchen vs. kitchenette).
Aside from that consistent exchange company standard, "understandings" and opinions are subjective and likely vary widely.

In my experience, what it takes to be a kitchenette or a full kitchen varies widely from one brand to another as well as what country the resort is in. Generally, RCI and II list what the kitchen facilities include, though that's not always entirely accurate. The lowest capabilities I've seen for a kitchenette were in the Wyndham Margaritaville Nashville where there was only a microwave, coffeemaker, margarita maker and toaster. In many of the Mexican TS I've been to, a full kitchen doesn't include an oven. If you have any question about what the kitchen facilities include at a TS you're going to, you would probably be best off either calling the resort itself or asking someone who's been there.

Varies widely - for accuracy, you should look at the resort's official floorplan and description for the specific unit.

Every where I have stayed regarding timeshares and hotels, a kitchenette is a microwave , small fridge and small sink. A partial kitchen adds a two burner stove top. A full kitchen adds most everything in a kitchen as full sized but sometimes there is no dishwasher.

My experience is kitchenette means microwave and mini fridge, maybe a bit more. Often there aren't any cooking tools.
Kitchen means there's a cooktop and bigger fridge (still might be on the small size though). If there's an oven it's in a kitchen not a kitchenette. But an oven isn't guaranteed and sometimes it's a microwave/oven combo. Often in a kitchen, there are cooking tools.

As stated above, no standard definitions. They vary widely depending on region.
