Kirkland House Blend Coffee no longer Starbucks?

So, going back to the original post....

I belong to a Facebook group called "Costco Products & Reviews" which has 691K members (not a typo) and it's a very active group. There has been no mention of of this coffee change which is odd b/c they discuss ANYTHING that changes to death*. Maybe you are the first to be a victim of this change?

* The switch from Kirkland paper towels to being UNWRAPPED within the larger outer packaging has generated multiple posts with lot of passionate commentary.
I was probably the first to notice the change since I've been buying it for 15+ years as my primary coffee. I had noticed the inventory getting low for the past few months and some stores had no inventory a few weeks ago. I saw the new package yesterday, and that's when I noticed the price change and no mention of Starbucks as the roaster. We also really miss the spinach salad and the sausage/penne pasta. Let us know if this shows up in the group and whether there are positive or negative reviews. Thanks.

Note: My daughter also hates the Kirkland paper towels and thinks that the quality has also diminished.

Wow. Super interesting.

The price changes are referred to as the "Death Star" in the group b/c it means change is coming.

Spinach Salad was brought up on Jan 3. People sad that it's gone. I see no mention of the pasta you refer to.

Lots of very passionate concerns about the rotisserie chickens. And Woozoo fans.

But the biggest hot button issue past 2 months has been the food court discontinuation of the churro replaced by the 750 calorie choc chip cookie.

I just checked the new brick of paper towels I bought last week. OMG!!! I did not know they were unwrapped. This is an outrage! (j/k) News to me!

I saw this and was wondering "What is this amazing Woozoo, that it has so many fans? Maybe a new sports drink?". Then Google showed me it was literally a fan. I won't be rushing to Costco to look for one. :ROFLMAO:

I have one and honestly don’t understand the hype

Lol. This is my kind of thread.

1. Love Major Dickasons but our new daily drinker (from Costco) is #2 below
2. Lavazza beans for the new Breville Barista for our daily Americanos. I feel so fancy. The Breville was $$$ but it is worth it. My poor keurig is so lonely now.
3. I was glad when they stopped double wrapping the paper towels
4. I love the woozoo fan. I run one in my bedroom at night, every night. It is silent and the air movement isn't as harsh as our old stand fan. I prefer the ceiling fan but my husband hates it, so the woozoo has been a godsend.
5. I am glad that I can get chopped onions for my $1.50 hot dog again.

It is kind of disappointing. When you get 16 rolls, what do you do with them all? I put them up on a shelf and it is good that they are still wrapped. As I need them I don't have to worry about a dusty roll, or rolls that have drawn a lot of moisture. A brick of paper towels would last us almost a year.

I follow an Aldi subreddit which does mostly the same thing

I like dark roasts but I'm not a fan of store-bought Starbucks. Way overpriced for the taste. I look for Lavazza or Don Francisco's, whichever one is on sale.

Confession time: I drink the Kirkland Signature 100% Colombian Dark Roast GROUND coffee that comes in a metal can. Horrors! -- I know - for the coffee snobs in the group. I like a coffee with legs, and I drink it black. I'm not going to be grinding coffee beans so this fits the bill. Can't beat the price.

My Costco tale of woe is the recent un-availability of the Kirkland face wipes. According to the FB group, the rumor is that they are out of stock and not discontinued.

Your onion issue has been discussed at length. Along with the Caesar salad at the food court (which looks absolutely wretched IMO).

Everyone should drink whatever they like. I drink my one coffee a day but I am married to a true "connoisseur" and it (the Breville) just makes his day. Happy life, happy wife.

I used to be a pseudo coffee snob. But I decided that the effort I was putting in just wasn't worth it. So now, I generally buy whatever ground coffee is on sale. I've recently bought quite a few bags off Amazon -- GMCR, Lavazza, Stumptown, Peets. I actually like having the variety.

I love a variety of coffee. Some of my staples are Pinon coffee, Highlander Grog (from Sprouts), and right now I have some coffee from a great little coffee shop we went to in Pike's Market. I also like 100% Kona coffee (don't have any on hand right now) and my sister usually sends me beans for my birthday. I like the whole bean, and then I grind them when needed. I went to a coffee roasting class a few years back and almost bought a roaster. But the guy who gave the class said that once you start roasting your own beans you won't enjoy coffee out any more. I decided I liked my coffee out, so ditched the idea of roasting my own.

The best cup of coffee is the first one you have in the morning. :coffee:
Could not agree more Luanne. I set my alarm 45 mins before I have to get up each morning. I go into the kitchen where I flick the switch on to my coffee maker. I return to bed with my hot, fresh cup of black coffee. Linger and ease into my day. Once done, I'm ready.

Truly one of life's simple pleasures.

I don't even use a coffee maker any more. I use a pour over method. I went through too many coffee makers that went bad on me. For a long time I was the only one in the house that drank coffee so it was overkill to use a coffee maker.

On a positive note, the Kirkland House Blend is back at $10.99 for 2.5 lb. down from the $15.99 when it had Starbucks on the label as the roaster. It would be interesting to know who now produces the Kirkland, and what how the taste compares to the previous.
For $10.99, why not just buy a bag and see how it tastes to you? If you like it, does it matter who is roasting it? If you do not like it, does it matter who is roasting it?

That could be me as well. Also, for whatever reason, after 30+ years of morning coffee addiction, my hankering for that driving jolt of java in the morning waned. I used to insist on fresh grinding beans immediately before brewing, with a brew as dense as I could handle. When I was in that mode, I couldn't deal with K-cups. When visiting my oldest sister who had a Keurig, I was pleased that she had a holder that would accept ground beans.

Now I have a Keurig of my own, and I'm satisfied with a K-brew that uses a reasonably good quality grade of coffee. It's quick, convenient, and, unlike 15 years ago, when I was disappointed in Keurigs, I now enjoy what my Keurig produces.

It makes sense for Costco to switch though. They cater to higher end consumers who have a preference for higher end products. Not mass market lower quality products. Walmart does way better catering to the mass market crowd.
Costco sells Kirkland, Peets, Folgers, Starbucks, Taster's Choice Instant, Dunkin’ Donuts Original Blend, Jose's, Original Donut Shop, and other brands/varieties of coffee. Something for everyone. And yes, people still drink Folgers.o_O

I stuck my coffee maker on a wifi controlled outlet. So, when I wake up, I grab my phone, switch on the outlet and lay there until I hear the maker's finishing gurgles. Then I can get up...

Bingo. And that isn't just true for coffee. Does it matter who made your jeans as long as they fit and look good? Does it matter what timeshare you own as long as it fits your needs?

Costco carries the Pinon coffee I love. Problem is, they only sell it ground. So I don't buy it from them.

The pour over coffee makers are beautiful.

Now that my husband and I are working from home most days, our coffee maker is going many times during the day. We love that the Jura grinds the beans for each cup and we adjust the strength to how each of us likes it. I will shed a tear when this one gives up on me... going strong for 5 years now. Our backup coffee makers are 2 Nespresso machines and a French press. The Nespresso was getting pricey for the amount of coffee we were drinking.
